😁🇪🇺 hello from central France, the world capital of the hurdy gurdy. The one you are playing looks like it's from around here, or at least based on that. So many people over here play Irish traditional music. It's great to see it goes both ways. ❤️

@@bookworm1956 Hello from Ireland! You guessed right, it is from central France! My one was made in Jenzat by J.C. Boudet. I was in central France last year for Le Son Continu festival in La Chatre and I'll be going there again in a few days. I'm sorry to say there are very few vielle a roue players in Ireland, the instrument is more-or-less unknown here.

@@FitZhurdygurdy 😁 See you at the Son Continu from Thursday! Of course I'll be there. You can find me at the stand of Association Lupot (usually in the first square on the left after the entry).

Fantastical and other worldly. I was soaring on a magic carpet, hovering over a marketplace in a mystical land, meandering through clouds of frankincense as I leaned left and right to avoid elephants and jugglers as I listened today.

Hi there, I was looking to get myself a Galipette as my first gurdy. Would you recommend it? How did you like playing it and do you believe it was comfortable to set up?
@FitZhurdygurdy4 ай бұрын
Hi mate. I would say it would be a really good first gurdy. The one I tried was very playable and felt solid. I wasn't blown away by the tone and I feel like the chien & trompette could have done with some fiddling to work better (a bit slack feeling and fizzy sounding) but overall it's a nice cute little gurdy that works well.

@@FitZhurdygurdy My wife commissioned a luthier in Quebec (since I'm in Canada) to make me one for our 20th anniversary (I got an Alhambra 11P concert series classical guitar for our 10th). He's made several before, among other instruments, such as violins, bagpipes, and harpsichords. The one he's made for me is a 6 string + 6 sympathetic. So gros bourdon, petit bourdon, mouche, trompette, and 2 octave chanterelles.
