Black Mage was always the best job for me personally. And then Pictomancer came in and did what Black Mage should be doing. Using all 8 elements cuz throughout the franchise in at it's cool the Black Mage was always the Elemental Magic specialist. Even Y'shtola's Black Mage variant job Sorceress, that uses the generic six elements minus dark and holy. I know that for the sake of story and game mechanics we can't have it that way for Black Mage but still...

Good summary, but the time travel isn't that hard. It's closed loop time travel. The crystal was sent into the future because he'd met you in the past. You met him in the past because he sent the crystal to the future. There's no beginning or end to it, everything happens because it's already happened before or must happen.

Considering the recent announcement of a new Darksiders game coming i wouldn't be too surprised if it was a direct sequel to all of these games and connecting each story including this one about humanity becoming strong enough to face the Council and defeat the true mastermind behind all of this conspiracy for good.
