Not for this, no. There’s nothing wrong with an overall evaluation at the end though! You’re so pressed for time, I’d just get stuck in!

Hi! Please could I get some feedback on this, I know I need to improve but I am unsure on what to improve on. Mary Shelley presents the narrator's disorientated and disturbed feeling about the creature through a variety of language and structure devices. He exclaims "I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! ". The repetition of the emotive adjective "beautiful" demonstrates his disbelief over how he had calculated on something that should have been perfect, but was wrong, which brought him distraught. This impacts the reader, as the reader would think that the narrator was mocking the creature's looks, evoking a sense of sympathy for the creature in the reader, and a dislike for the narrator. The reader can also see the narrator is completely horrified by the minor exclamatory "Great God!". The exclamation mark demonstrates the narrators shock and disturbance, in addition to the idea that the narrator uses the noun "God", as if he felt like he needed to be saved by God after looking at the creature, clearly demonstrating his disturbed feelings.

This is great but watch your topic sentence. Avoid generalised ‘through a variety of language and structure devices.’ Aim to be more specific. Watch clunky expression - ‘brought him distraught.’ Otherwise, it’s excellent.

Can you explain how do I find implicit and explicit meanings, of words
@missadamsteaches...
@missadamsteaches... 15 сағат бұрын
When something is explicit you are being told information directly. When there is an implicit meaning you are using your skills of inference - looking at what else you learn from the word choices that isn’t given to you obviously. A good way of looking at this is to look at the connotations of a word - what you associate with them. Hope that helps.

Thank you Miss Adams. I enjoyed and appreciated your insights on a poem and poet that has grabbed my interest. I'm a Yank, and as such I am feeling a bit lost with only the line: " no whit less still and lonely fair than the high cloudlets in the sky". I understand the phrase "no whit less" to roughly mean, "couldn't care less", but I am only grasping at this lines meaning in the context of this poem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I both want to / don't want to visit Adlestrop, knowing how things change. Thank you, Sean

Thank you so much for doing videos like these. I don't even studying the great Gatsby (perhaps at a-level) in school but I actually realised its enjoyable and interesting to read books, so purely out of interest I am reading this book and watching your videos along, they help a lot so thank you! Also, when I was studying for my GCSEs a few months ago I watched your videos for help and my exams went really well so thank you, Im aiming to do English lit at A-level.

What does "you must suffer me to go my own dark way", actually mean regarding the context in chapter 6?
@missadamsteaches...
@missadamsteaches... Ай бұрын
It means that Jekyll wants Utterson to leave him to his path, even though it’s one of darkness and difficulty. He’s essentially asking Utterson to let him get on with his own problems. Does that make sense?
