Had potential but way too gory. I like scary, not gory. And the little boy was adorable but he was so whiny. And lastly, lol. It froze up all the time and I missed the damn ending!

Saw this on TV about three decades ago and could've sworn there was a nude scene with Victoria Principal. Maybe I imagined it?

"The Big Knife is a film of excess. It's over-written, over-acted, overwrought and over-emotional. It's full of bombast and shouting and actorly monologues but the film has the courage of its convictions. It's unrelenting and unsparing in its depiction of the film industry as a hellscape where the worst of capitalism meets the worst of the arts". - film critic, Nathan Rabin 2022 I agree.

This movie speaks of courage! I wish the First Lady had the boldness to outrun her enemies! That she did not let them kill her! Suppose she had the strength to ignore their accusations, what a better support could she give to the President!

Very well shot, but the music doesn’t really fit and, IMO, narration in movies is always unnecessary. Yes I know it’s about a writer and whatever but…

We the viewers are not allowed to express our own thoughts and opinions without being BULLIED by the yt CENSORS who immediately removed my comment only because I dared to write the TRUTH (in a CIVILIZED and RESPECTFUL MANNER) about the scum that controlled and still controls the film studios in hollywood.

Good movie but the lead character Charley was miscast. Jack palances acting seemed stilted and stiff. He is a good actor but not strong enough for this role.

I thought the same and wondered what William Holden would have done with the role. But ultimately Jack Palance made the part his own. The part called for the character to be flawed, idealistic, somewhat narcissistic, handsome, alcoholic... not easy.

A fine fictionalized account of the Jackson story that glosses over the truth. They got the names right but little else. This treatment was not unusual in so called biographical films up through the early seventies. Still worth watching.

Kris Kristofferson is a true American badass. He was in the Army and earned his Ranger tab, he then earned his flight wings as an Army helicopter pilot flying Hueys in Europe, and at one time stole a helicopter, landing it in Johnny Cash's back yard. West Point later offered him a position at a literagy instructor, which he turned down, incredible, they don't make them like that anymore!

My mother loved this film. She saw it whilst young in 1938 and never forgot it. Over and over she tried to find it again, but without the miracle of the internet she failed - couldn’t even find a reference for it. I’ve lost count of the number of times she sighed, saying she’d love to see ‘Wings of the morning’ again. It held a very special place in her heart. She died in 2007 without ever seeing it again. So here am I, having a sleepless night in 2024, I give up trying to sleep and instead turn to KZfaq - and what comes up on my feed at 1.30 am, but Wings of the Morning? Wow. Given it was made in 1937, to today’s more sophisticated eyes we can see where the plot clunks, but given the colour, the beauty of the scenery, the wonderful views of London in the 1930s, the talented actors and the delightful - if somewhat naive - plot, this is a little gem. Another reviewer called it charming, and indeed it is. My mother, if seeing it today, may well have said it was outdated, but I can see exactly why she loved it so very much back then.
