Very interesting. I know people living in the properties in Abbey Road, Fisher Square. They will be delighted to see footage of how their house used to be.

Superb film. The City looks so commanding & elegant , the social life, so busy. Amazing quarry footage, never been there. Things really do look better here in your film, than today in 2023. Thanks for sharing.🐱🏴

Why did they do away with the boats at Duthie Park? Such a pity, the pond is just all moss now. I spent alot of time at the beach promenade where family worked. 🙂🏴

Lovely film & music. The town looked much better then than now, so classic with architecture & we can see fields at edge of town.🙂🏴

What a trip down memory lane. I grew up in Aberdeen in the 60s. Left Aberdeen 30 years ago. My brother who still lives there tells me I wouldn't recognise it now - and it hasn't changed for the better.

The Festival decorations at 07:32 reveal this section to have been taken in 1964. Later there is the Floral Clock for 1957, so this is a compilation of different dates.

From a program called Diesel & Electric on 35mm: Volume 3. I'm not 100% sure, but according to the description of what's on the DVD, it appears to match what is seen in this video.

An era many would yearn for - it was a great era for variety but I find the modern era more efficient but less interesting rolling stock wise - fewer types and too much of the "same old same old'

I was a Torry Loon and after getting Married in 1980 our first house was a tiny top-floor flat on Victoria Road right next to a bombed-out bit of waste ground. I became a Marine Engineer and sailed the World, even serving on the Royal Research Ship the RRS Ernest Shackleton, spending a summer season in the Antarctic re-supplying and crew changing the British bases there. I have retired now age 71 in Malta. The Icy north sea, a little too severe for me now. I got my class A Radio Amateur license at the Aberdeen Tech college where I met my wife to be at night classes, also taking her 'ham' license. I was GM4 HIG and Anne was GM4 HWX. She became a senior nursing officer in the operating theatres at ARI. Not bad for a Torry Loon and Quine eh.
