I also have one. Not so sure about carbon water filters. What are the risks of activated carbon? Lung damage, olfactory fatigue, delayed pulmonary edema may occur with extended periods of overexposure. Activated carbon can remove oxygen from air causing a severe hazard to workers in enclosed or confined spaces. Respiratory Irritation Category 3 Eye Irritation 2A Dust causes respiratory, skin and eye irritation. Prolonged or repeated inhalation or ingestion can cause irritation of mucous membranes. Wet activated carbon removes oxygen from air causing a severe hazard to workers in enclosed or confined space What happens when activated carbon gets wet? Wet activated carbon depletes oxygen from the air. Materials allowed to smolder for long periods in enclosed spaces, may produce amounts of carbon monoxide which may reach the lower explosive limit for carbon monoxide of 12.5% in air.

Is it absolutely necessary to unhook all the wires and battery cables? I saw a former video that showed to simply turn off the circuit breaker on all the batteries leaving one battery on. Connect the charger cables to the correct bus bar and charge each battery one at a time. Probably need to have the inverter and the solar disconnect also turned off. Anyone know if this is possible? Would be loads easier!!

For a top balance, I recommend taking all the wires off.

Do you know if it's dangerous to have the solar panels on the roof due to EMF radiation? Or is it safe to have the batteries and inverter in the house? I've heard mixed views on this and the roof is the only good location for the panels. Thanks

Hi, I just wanted to say, do you know of a brand for black soldier larvae where they use non gmo organic food to feed the black soldier larvae? Because grocery food to me is not good food. I have three chickens and try to feed them all organic food because what they eat, I will be eating it through their egg production. My three Australorp Chickens stopped producing eggs this Fall for a bit, then in winter and now in the Spring. I was wondering if my dog running and barking could be the cause?

Is your Champion generator an invertor generator or conventional? I'm trying to find out whether I can charge my solar batteries with a conventional generator. Some people say yes, some say no. They can't both be right.
@CountryLivingExperience

It is conventional. That is why I use the Chargeverter. It is not recommended to connect a smaller conventional generator to your solar inverter. You need to have a large 20kw conventional to do that. This video should help explain a bit.....kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qNtipdSZqbW0ZaM.html

Great video. Thanks for sharing this information. I use both food grade DE (limited amounts) & Barn Lime (a lot)... the price difference is crazy! Barn lime is only $4.99 for 50 pounds, at Tractor Supply. As for DE, it is too expensive! Now think about what your using each type for. What makes more sense for it’s USE... 🤔 For me, it’s mainly for my chickens. So Lime is my go to, from now on. I like saving money for more chicken feed, bedding and treats for them. Someone else said in comments they make a whitewash with it...? The LIME? I need to look that up because it sounds like a great idea! 😎👍🏽

I am facing the same problem from the day i bought my second battery and put the 2 in parallel. Another problem i have though is that the 2 batteries are charging/discharging at different rates. I have found most foods preserved in our freeze dryer to be "acceptable". They're not " as good as fresh" and I don't expect them to be. We just did an egg omelet mixture and had some this morning. Perfectly acceptable and you might no be able to tell the difference if you didn't know they were freeze dried. We also did blueberries, blackberries, and plums. Those aren't nearly as good as fresh, but again, acceptable. My wife has made about 90 jars of jelly this week. Plum, blackberries, and blueberry. We will probably give away 90% of them since I do keto. Unfortunately, all 5 of our plum trees produce at the same time so we've gotten about 15 gallons. She's also made peach salsa and freeze dried a lot of peaches. We have 3 peach trees that produce at different times so all of these peaches, probably 400, came off of 1 tree. Apples and pears are also loaded as are persimmons. We didn't have a late frost so all the fruit trees set heavy.
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience 2 күн бұрын
That is awesome you had such a great fruit harvest. We did some blueberries last year. Yes, I would say that all of the freeze dried stuff is perfectly acceptable and will be gourmet in a survival situation.

Hi - thanks for the useful video! I was wondering if there's any downside to wrapping the bottom of the hydrant where the weep hole is with water permeable geotextile in addition to everything else you recommend. Thinking this would be an added layer of protection for keeping the weep hole from getting clogged with soil?
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience 2 күн бұрын
You're welcome. The only thing I would worry about with wrapping the weephole with that fabric is more of a chance of clogging. If any dirt builds up on that fabric, it won't be permeable for long.

I haven't commented to any of your videos lately, but this is too close to home. You may not see it like this but, you just described how to run a successful business, not just a homestead. I'm a long haul truck driver, and this is what i have to do every load. Figure out the best way to get to my destination, where to get fuel, where to take breaks (and backups if those places are full), taking into account construction, traffic, weather, and available log hours. And never forget Murphy's Law. You have to build in enough cushion to allow for problems, but not so much you're sitting idle, unnecessarily. So, you may have given precious advice to those folks that want to start a business as well as those wanting to start a homestead.
