@@WheelsInTheSky unfortunately, aFib treated with a Cardioversion (they shock your heart stopped then shock it back beating) is a disqualifing condition for Basic Med, I reported it and had the FAA pull my license. I am about to mount a 360° x4 and due to my searching YT for mounting options I came across your F1 mounting, which led to this Hidden Splendor gem. I’ve been into there and came thru the canyon too and it is even more spectacular than your video captured, which is saying a lot. I didn’t get video when I went there and sure will in the future. I ordered a mic pole and some other gadgets that will arrive this week. I’ll put that on my CCub before heading to AK next week. Had I found your vids sooner I could have tried your DIY. Pretty clean setup you did. I’ll do something similar for my RV6 wing mount. I wonder though, how are you able to get the great engine/prop sound without much wind distortion? It’s music all by itself!
@WheelsInTheSky
@WheelsInTheSky Ай бұрын
@stoldrag85. My X2’s weren’t too bad about picking up wind noise, but my X3’s pick it up much more, even when set to wind reduction. I finally just put little pieces of painters tape over the mics. With the tail mount in the prop wash, there’s more wind noise than the wing mount. With my Rocket down for mx, I’ve been using my 185 more. I removed the cargo door and have been using my Canon R6 on a gimbal to get video while my buddy flies. It’s been so much fun, I think I’ll post a video in the next few weeks. PS., my X4 is coming tomorrow, I thought today was Monday??

@WheelsInTheSky 3 ай бұрын
@igclapp Thanks. Yes, maybe when Insta360 comes out with their X4. I have X2’s and X3’s. When shooting in 360 and at 5.7k (the maximum), the frame rates available are 24, 25, and 30. I know most cameras that aren’t 360, can shoot at higher frame rates. I’ll check out GoPro’s latest Max2. Early on I had bought a GoPro Max but returned it after the first use. The stitching and stabilization weren’t as good as the Insta 360. But now that GoPro has a new 360, I would expect it to be better than the Insta. They seem to leap frog each other every time one of them comes out with a new camera.

@igclapp. Let me add, if you record in 4k, you can do 60fps. In 3k, up to 100fps. But, you loose so much resolution in editing a 360 video, it’s best to start out recording in the highest resolution possible- which is 5.7k. In the beginning, I thought 4k is plenty, but it’s not in 360 video.

Some day when my engine wears out, I’ll probably go with a continental 550 and a new prop. For now though, I take my Husky backcountry unless I’m hauling a lot.
