0:43 - 0:47 Cut! x6 Wait, wait, wait! 1:08 - 1:11 Wait, wait, wait! Cut! x6 1:33 - 1:41 Wait a minute. That “The Horse Sounding Like a Rooster Whisperer.” Come on! Work with me! 1:48 - 1:58 That “The Horse Sounding Like a Duck Whisperer.” (gets more exasperated) Whatever happened to “Neigh! Neigh!”? 2:17 - 2:23 FINALLY! At last! “The Horse Whisperer.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

What's the name of the program they used to turn those words into pictures? Wonder if it's preserved on the Archive. If it is, I bet it'll get loads of traffic from nostalgic Gen-Xers.

At least Irving got the sizes of the three squares right. The big square would be the papa, the middle-sized square would be the mama, and the little square would be the baby.

I come back here once in a while. Brings tears to my eyes. I'm 35 now and remember watching this on TV at 3 years old in 1992. The 6 train going by triggers me because I work on the subway now and I loved that as a kid. Better times when my mother was still alive

Did you see the official SesameWorkshop "Sesame Street Fan" KZfaq channel actually uploaded a compilation of all the "Monsterpiece Theater" segments? They actually used the original version of this sketch with the Union Jack opening intact. And the prints they used for other segments vary in an interesting manner; "Chariots of Fur" is the unaired 1990s remake!

Jim Henson: Idea Man brought me here (there was a clip in which Jim practiced puppeteering the song from a demo by the song’s writers Sam Pottle and David Axelrod.)

Maybe this is overkill, but this always had a Vietnam War feel to it. The kid in a jungle...the song starts off with rainy weather, not unlike the conditions the Americans encountered in Vietnam during the rainy season. The giraffe waving goodbye could be the Vietnamese waving goodbye to the Americans as they evacuated Vietnam in 1973.
