I throughly disliked the John Baccus character. He acted like a teenager throwing, temper tantrums. He was a total tool. Martin Shaw as George Gently is outstanding as usual.

Maybe you didn't like the character JB, but Lee Ingleby's performance is faultless. He's an extremely gifted actor, and as much as I like Martin Shaw, I think Lee has a much bigger range and is more natural. As GG, Martin Shaw often sounds like he's acting. Not so, Lee.

What I like about John is he learns from his mistakes and redeems himself after the shooting he kinda realises he's not bulletproof and comes into contact with his mortality plus it's absolutely heartbreaking how much he's lost especially losing his daughter wanting to be there for her yet his job and divorce both hinder that the. Scene of him at the holiday camp wishing he could be there with Leigh Ann is so sad

I think they are truly in love. Both of them, although they want to show them as a brother and sister relationship.. That ´s why I don´t understand why is he so passive when she's constantly inviting him to take the plunge?

I couldn't agree more, and I'm also Australian! He's a phenomenonally talented actor who would run rings around so many Hollywood types who always get the attention and plaudits. I wish we saw more of him.

I think Joan is a woman who doesn't love herself. In addition, she's attracted by bad men so no hope for Endeavour, good-looking but too gentleman. Two different personalities.

The series is not that interesting enough to watch second time. John Bacchus character is so horrible. In season 6 to 8. A person you would cross the road, then go near him.
