I retired at age 53, so I am in my early 60s. Many of them resisted me because they couldn't understand the idea of not working if it wasn't necessary. I considered the phases of my life. I worked very hard to achieve what I have now, but in my last years, I owe it to myself to "stop and smell the roses." In my instance, I departed the nation after retiring and currently reside in Latin America. It made it possible for me to appreciate my new surroundings while escaping all the bad things that were going on in America. Nobody that I know of regrets retiring has done so.

A pleasant way to wind down. In my opinion, those who are retired and find it difficult to support themselves are the ones who were unable to save enough money when they were working. Numerous factors are determined by retirement decisions. My spouse and I both worked in the civil service for the same amount of years; I saved through my 401(k) and she through a wealth manager. Even when we retired, we were both still earning.

Unfortunately, not everyone has access to this kind of information. Really, I don't blame panicked folks. A major obstacle may be a lack of knowledge. All I have to do is invest through an advisor and I've been making over $800k without putting in much labor. Even in an unfavorable economic environment, savvy asset managers will always generate returns.

I've been putting off doing this for a while, even though I think I should. Since you appear to have everything figured out with the firm you work with, I wouldn't mind a recommendation, but I'm not really sure which firm to deal with because I think they're all the same.

I definitely share your sentiment about these firms. Finding financial advisors like *Layan Talia Chokr* who can assist you on things like investing, insurance, making sure retirement is well funded, going over tax benefits, ways to have a volatility buffer for investment risk would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.

Layan gives off the impression of being a very powerful person in her field. I sought her up online and discovered her website, which I browsed and studied to find out more about her career history, qualifications, and educational background. She owes it to me to look out for my best interests. Thank you for sharing; I arranged a session with her and sent her an email stating my goals.

All sensible points. Have you gents perhaps done a video on asset allocation across one’s life (20s, 30s, 40s, etc.)? It is clear that broad diversification is necessary later in life - particularly around retirement. But if you’re in your 20s, is there any case at all to be going with bonds/commodities/cash? Assuming one diligently DCAs through drawdowns (and lost decades?), can one expect to get excess returns?

Having different "sleeves" to my portfolio helps me (as I see it anyways) from a behavioral perspective - I have a Nomadic Samuel/Return Stacked-like sleeve, a more dynamic asset allocation sleeve, a "stock picking" sleeve (I use the Validea Hot List for part of this), and a tactical futures sleeve that I use a few trend following approaches to manage/trade. This kind of scratches all the itches for me and at least of one sleeve stinks, hopefully they all don't at least at the same time. Maybe it turns out to be counterproductive but I like to think it just adds a layer of diversification and helps me behaviorally from wildly flipping from 100% one approach to 100% another approach (BTW, if you couldn't tell, love the podcast and appreciate you guys).

I don't know if you can adjust your camera, but it is reading the white behind you and making you look like a dim shadow. You could also change this by placing that dark area to your right behindyou. and don't point camera towards big white ceiling. another option is moving your face closer to reduce the amount of white in the scene.

Tax advice? My tax advice is simple, pay your taxes and be happy about. Our tax system keeps our currency strong and us the envy of the world. Don’t be an authoritarian goon who hates taxes. The tax is the end of the sequence. The government spends first and that is how we get the funds to pay the tax. It’s not tax dollars - that’s racist, fascist talk. It’s Public Money. Pay your taxes. If you’re upset about paying taxes, then you’re probably not taking enough money. Take more money - there’s plenty out there for the taking. Don’t be a dope. Pay your taxes and be happy you’re an American.

As long as the Fed keeps its Fed Funds Rate above 0%, there will be inflation, since the Fed Funds Rate is the Rate of Inflation 🤷‍♂️ CPI is a cost of living guesstimate, not inflation
@gregsmith9862
@gregsmith9862 2 күн бұрын
The neutral Fed funds rate is the theoretical risk premium over the theoretical neutral interest rate that is neither too stimulative or too tight. CPI is how the government measures price increases (or decreases ) in the economy. Inflation is generally caused by either too much money circulating & stimulating consumption or a supply shortage like we had post Covid. You need to retake economics 101, because your understanding of inflation is way off. Note that zero bound interest rates caused home inflation as low mortgages increased demand and since housing supply is very slow to change, prices have risen dramatically over the last decade. So your thesis is wrong.

History’s best trader? Jack Schwager is a well-known author and financial expert, particularly famous for his series of books titled "Market Wizards," which feature interviews with some of the most successful traders and hedge fund managers over the last several decades. Born in 1948, Schwager has made significant contributions to financial literature and thought, but there is no concrete evidence that he himself is one of history's best traders. His fame and reputation primarily stem from his ability to distill and share the wisdom of those who are considered top investors. For that, you get a THUMB DOWN!!!

The 4% rule is a super important concept and very rough rule of thumb to keep in mind. But this is not a crisp, clear, complete intro to it. The overview, for example, is not an accurate representation of what it says. Find a video of Michael Kitces covering it instead.

I’d recommend you read/follow Allan Lichtman and his 13 Keys to the White House. He has a scientific system for predicting US Presidential elections developed in 1982 that he’s used to predict correctly every presidential election since 1984. Currently the keys favor a Biden/Democratic Party win. He hasn’t made his final prediction yet. He will once the Democratic convention occurs. However there is one caveat. Elections can be stolen, like in 2000, so it is best to know what is happening in the 11 swing counties within the 7 swing states that will determine the outcome of this presidential election.
