I am a new HS tennis coach, I really love your videos, thank you! Curious how long you would say conditioning should be in a 2 hour practice? Assuming some in th ebeginning and some at the end of practices.

Totally useless blabbery. The title says 'HOW to record' and this is a lie, is should have been 'what equipment you need for recording'

I have really big storage problems on smartphone any tips?
@Tennisfiles2 ай бұрын
I’d buy cloud storage, get a phone with bigger storage or get a GoPro/equivalent with a big storage card. Can also record in lower quality to save space (4k takes a ton of space for example). GL!

Let me clarify one point. Ok you are on top of net by straps and your opposition hits ball say 3-4 feet to either your left or right. What do you do? You splitstep but can not move diagonal to either side of net as you are already too close to net. All you can do is move paralel across net and hit volley. But since racquet is not moving foward your shot will probably limply just go into net. So stay on top of net at your risk. 😊🎾
@frankpiccione85712 ай бұрын
Dont agree with Pete that you should be right on top of net by straps to hit volley.. Yeah that works if you are the Bryan Bros and have quick hands. How many rec players have quick hands? Not many. If you are on top of net, you are liable to be lobbed by opposition. You will be too close to net to hit overhead. When I see a opposing net player on top of net, I drill the ball right at their mid chest. Dont let them extend their arms to either side when they can hurt you and they hit a defensive back hand volley or pop up volley. Further, when you are on on top of net you cant move diagonally that far as you will have racquet over net. You can only move paralel to net and this is not effective way to hit volley as you know Pete. So it is easy to say get on top of net and be aggressive volleyer but the disadvantages outweigh the advantages for typical recreation player.🎾

Love poaching and playing the net, but doing it depends on the speed and position of my partner’s serve. Missing overheads and unsuccessful poaching however are among my biggest confidence killers.

Can’t record for more than 15-20 mins on DSLR cameras….
@Tennisfiles2 ай бұрын
You can, I have! Depends on the model. Others may record it all but save in 15m increments then you can combine in post. GoPro and equivalents also won’t have issues with that nor will a smartphone.

Gavin thank you and I am SO excited to hear you are building some tennis content at SSL. Fingers crossed it can help a club player and also children just starting to adopt the correct basic techniques. So many of us have the biomechanics wrong but don’t know how to fix it.

6:27 No one is serving harder than Roddick, but there are definitely people who serve harder than Sampras. And the average serve speed on tour has gone up quite a bit.
@DATennisАй бұрын
Maybe. But the spin that Sampras put is unmatched. Motion for motion no one gets as much action as him apart from Roddick. At least no one below 2 meters. You factor the racket Sampras used instead of this bigger ones and it is more outstanding.

I have watched your whole video on you tube and while it was very informative , there are a few questions that I asked babolat u.s to relay to corporate . I have not received any answers as yet . I have tested the pure strike 97vs and current . Because of its design , would this racket be useful on a clay or hartrue surface , knowing that as a french company , clay is their surface ? Can I successfully use this racquet in doubles on clay as well ? Knowing that this racquet is a control attacking frame , it tends to say that they tend to work best on grass and hard surfaces and here in the U.S hartrue is more Spanish then French clay . Lastly seeing that with the neccesary added weight , can the pure strike 97 's current edition , take a hard ball impact along with an offensive like return , even if not taking the ball on the rise ? I have had to block a hard fast non bounced ball with the technifibre t- fight series . The defense at the net where this occurred at my face was successfully blocked .

I'm going to turn this on its head in regards to golf vs tennis. I am a tennis nut, but have three friends that had a chance to go pro years and years ago. While I will still give the nod to tennis as being more demanding like Gavin says... We have more tools in the toolbox to turn things around or make things work. Think serve-bots (big serve + big forehand), counter punchers, serve and volley back in the day, etc. In golf, you have less tools/weapons/strategies to try to win, so more mental pressure to get things right (me thinks).

This guy is so spot on and the complete opposite from the guy from two minute tennis. As he says most people can see what works but explaining the biomechanics is wholly different. The parallel of the serve to a boxers punch is excellent in that it is rotation. Also the when the punch is thrown there is pronation. The guy is excellent. Thx

I actually don't like the way Ryan Reidy teaches how to serve.
@KenFlanagan3 ай бұрын
They are bevels not panels in the grip. The trigger finger can be done anywhere on the grip. ??? Obviously
@KenFlanagan3 ай бұрын
Almost everything this dude says makes no rational sense. He keeps making observations and drawing the wrong conclusion. Usually the opposite conclusion. This feels like bs. It starts with the grip. Continental grip would have the racket relaxed on edge by definition. Face up means that the wrist is being unnaturally cocked. Pin point doesnt afford more rotation is adds forward momentum. Think federer or sampras rotation. Both platform. Also pinpoint like zverev has high toss into the court. Also ben sheltons serve technique is awful. Its almost designed to get injured and is wholly unnatural. It is muscled. I could go on. The whole grip and swing coordination is nonsense. You can swing away and still have a forehand grip. He then confused a slice racket angle with swing away at 45 degrees when he should actually be demonstrating pronation which aligns the racket towards the target whilst swing path is at 45 away. He doesn’t really seem to know why pinpoint has advantages and disadvantages. He knows what a good serve ought to be but has no idea why. Even the shoulder over shoulder comments on Laya contradicts his earlier points about left arm pointing straight out. Just bs

One Handed Backhand Masterclass……really? Who’s the backhand master? This is just another example of KZfaq absurdity. It’s baseless chatter from someone who has no skill base from which to teach anything tennis related. Laughable if it wasn’t so bad.

Excellent bonus tips that can make the difference when stretching after practice! I used to do static stretch before playing, it is so easy to make an important mistake like this. This and similar videos help a lot, at least for the basics that many or most recreative players simply do not know.
