Flip the clip 180° like it's oriented at 4:12 and it's a perfectly fine horizontal carry option lol. Why would you attach the clip UNDER the knife 😅.

14c28n is surprisingly solid, about on par if not better than the D2 blade I have, though in all fairness they were about the same price (~50 USD). That being said the steel isn't the entire story when it comes to price, there's the heat treatment, the grind, the width behind the edge, quality in components like bearings, etc. Sadly there are a lot of knives out for $200+ that are only marginally higher quality than $50-$100 offerings. There are some, but very few, that are sold at over $100 and are actually worth the money.

Love your videos, very down to earth and to the "point". I have two clerics 2s on the way and this video was very helpful. BTW, I was always curious about the bubble steel inlays. To each their own in terms of looks, but are there any pros to the bubble inlays? I prefer the carbon fiber and rubber grip ones but it seems the bubble ones are really popular!

"When you're doing tasks like cutting drywall or scraping things, you can abuse the box cutter and just replace the razor, without damaging the nice razor sharp edge on the other side." I feel called out...😅 this knife was a 2/10 for me because of the blocky, uncomfortable handle. Big DIYer here, and I would rather carry a standard box cutter in addition to my EDC knife with better steel, than use this Boker.

Look at the tang of the blade where it meets the lock bar. If it is flat, it is one of the dangerous ones. If it looks rounded over and polished, it is one of the fixed ones! Mine was made in January of 2024, so yours should be good.

Benchmade bug out is not in the same field as these other knives. It is smaller, lighter, and American made. Bugout never was trying to be the strongest, sharpest, cheapest knife. Bugout is legit the knife I forget I'm carrying because it doesn't weigh anything, the size is minimal, and everything about it is super simple.

I've seen a few posts on Reddit mentioning how 'the steel seems soft' bc it doesnt hold an edge. So I think you're right...other peoples results are similar to yours. It's just sad bc Gerber was once one of the bests and now they have become terrible.

Where did you learn the reason is it’s ran at too high a temperature? The aus temp or the temper temp?
@knivessportsandadventures9523
@knivessportsandadventures9523 22 күн бұрын
The forging and quenching temps are too high. This is a known issue with Magnacut. Once you get it too hot, the internal chemistry of the steel changes and you lose the corrosion resistance. If it is tempered well after that, you can still get good edge retention, but it will rust very easily.

Thank you for your review and your suggestions regarding tungsten tape and the grip. I started using the Summit C1 a year ago because I too was looking for a longer face to apply sweeping sidespin. I liked the C1 though my ability to get sweep on my sidespin was inconsistent. I was excited to upgrade to the Summit Outbreak but I feel, after using it for a couple days, that I get less rpms with the Outbreak than with the C1. What am I doing wrong? Also, have you seen a lot of wear on the paddle face? I see sporadic little indentions along the lines of the checkerboard design and I have used the paddle for less than a week.
@knivessportsandadventures9523
@knivessportsandadventures9523 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I find that the Outbreak is so soft that getting spin requires you to hit the ball harder. It seems strange coming from a fiberglass paddle, but the softness of the Outbreak face requires you to hit hard enough to get the ball to squish the face into the paddle core to grip the ball for spin. It takes some getting used to, because hitting that hard would make the ball go out od bounds long if you didn't get the spin right. It helps to brush the ball along the long axis of the paddle to practice side spin first. Just remember that you are dealing with core compression and not just surface grit for spin. As far as the damage, I have not seen that on mine. I would contact Onyx to make sure you didn't get a bad paddle.
@joshclaytonfilm
@joshclaytonfilm 2 ай бұрын
@@knivessportsandadventures9523 Thank you for your reply. I’ll try hitting the ball harder; I had been trying to “catch” (so being too soft) the ball near the handle and then rolling it along the long axis like I had been doing with the C1. Did you find the tungsten tape helped with spin (hitting the ball harder) or that was really just to increase the power for slams?
@knivessportsandadventures9523
@knivessportsandadventures9523 2 ай бұрын
@@joshclaytonfilm I did feel like it was a bit easier to get the spin with tungsten tape. The tape makes the paddle heavier and lets it squish into the ball a bit longer without getting pushed backwards by the impact. It helps with gripping the ball a bit more.
@joshclaytonfilm
@joshclaytonfilm Ай бұрын
I’ve been playing with the Summit Outbreak and it’s growing on me. Compressing the paddle face makes me think you need to hit the ball hard head-on while to impart sidespin you need to come at the ball from the side. How do you reconcile those two different things? What are you thinking, as a mental cue, when you look to hit the ball with sidespin with this paddle?
@knivessportsandadventures9523
@knivessportsandadventures9523 Ай бұрын
@joshclaytonfilm i tend to think of gripping the ball. As you get ready to brush the ball sideways, there is a short time where you can feel the ball hit and grab. That's your window for big spin. It doesn't have to be perfectly head-on because the paddle face is so flexible.
