The 90’s were about showing diversity. 1990 was written by Serge Gainsbourg. 1991 was 1st with Sweden but they used some kind of rules. It was a song about the Golf War and it could apply to what is happening in Israel or Ukraine today.

Crazy how before the 90s it was always the same type of song: a ballad about love. Then (apart from 1 or 2 songs in the 80s) it became more pop-oriented, with inclusion of our regional folklore and languages and people from different areas, including our islands, and of different races/origins, not just white people singing about love, and I really like that!

With Destiny and the Tomalchevy sisters, if you have a winner, why not try again? Maybe lightning strikes twice. Here in Spain, Maria Isabel was in the selection for the adult Eurovision some years ago, but finally she wasn't chosen.

Mariam must be the most common female name in Georgia. Not only the four Mariams that participated in 2007, 2010, 2016 and 2022, but there are also several Mariams in the groups: Two in "Bzikebi", two in "Princesses", one in "Candy", two in "The Smile Shop". There are a lot of Lizis as well. In every country there are some names that are more common than the rest, but it seems that common names in Georgia are reaaaaally common.

En 1990 la 2è place de Joëlle Ursull était excellente. Devant c'était quand même du solide avec le grand Toto Cutugno qui avec ''Insieme 1992'' n'a pas volé sa victoire. Mais en 1991 Amina Annabi et "C'est le dernier qui a parlé qui a raison'' aurait du l'emporter et d'ailleurs c'est ex-æquo que Carola la chanteuse suédoise et Amina avait été classées par les différents jurys et c'est aux nombres de 10 (1 de plus pour Carola) que s'est joué la victoire.

This is the reason Sweden quit Junior esc more than 10 years ago. Kids wrote their own material, and we had no time for it - when the rest of Europe took a kids event to seriously😂

It’s the same reason Denmark quit. We did it after the 2005 event though😅 The Danish broadcasters thought it got to serious and not an event for kids anymore

Fun fact: In the first 3 contests between 2003 and 2005, Sweden had finished 15th thrice when they had a girly duo.

C'est quand même effrayant de se dire qu'à part Serge Lama (et dans une moindre mesure Alain Barrière), aucun de ses artistes représentant la France n'a réussi à faire carrière après sa participation à l'Eurovision. Certains avaient fait carrière avant, comme Gérard Lenorman, Joëlle Ursull (dans Zouk Machine), Patricia Kaas ou Natasha St-Piers, mais ça s'est quasiment arrêté après leur passage à l'Eurovision, d'autres ont pu se récupérer en participant à des comédies musicales à succès (Patrick Fiori) ou d'autres encore étaient dans un genre un peu "niche" (Les Fatals Picards, Sébastien Tellier) et y sont restés, mais la majorité a complètement disparu des radars... Manifestement, l'Eurovision est une sorte de chat noir pour les artistes français, ce qui explique pourquoi peu osent y participer.

Armenia 2007, 2009, 2022 are worth winning. 2015 and 2016 also worth but not as the winner. All JESC 2021 entry are good, it was hard for me to choose my personal winner.
