Unfortunately, very often no tap water. This is like a tasteless joke: outside, more than 30C, but AGAIN - third time in two weeks - some water issue, so the entire region is without tap water. No washing, no showering, no cooking, no laundry, nothing to even flush the toilet. Absoluteoy embarrassing. NOT recommended. Tourists expect at least minimal infrastructure.

How did you travel around? Taxi or is there public trnasport, taxi apps, whats the prices like etc
@journeybeyondthehorizon6270Ай бұрын
We traveled around the city mostly by Grab app. It is very convenient and cheap. Motorcycle Grab is cheaper than cars. For example, I paid only around 55000 Rp from the center to the airport, and for the short distances just between 8000 and 15000. Cars usually are 2x more expensive.

@@journeybeyondthehorizon6270 thanks, would you say its also safe there to visit with children?
@journeybeyondthehorizon6270Ай бұрын
@@rash_M Yes, it is safe, not different than the other average Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam, Thailand, or Philippines. We saw families with children, but they go mostly to the Mentawai Islands because Mentawai is a funnier place for children. In Padang, mostly be careful with the traffic, and aware for pickpocketing in crowded places.

The lake is really beautiful, we also documented it on our videos. But tourist infrastructure is starting to grow here. In some years it will kill the beauty of this place.

Hold on a sec how can foreigners enter Duku Highway?I am planning to drive there with my gf(I am Chinese but my gf is American)
@journeybeyondthehorizon62704 ай бұрын
That's no problem. I am foreigner (Bulgarian), and my wife is Chinese. We did it by driving- rent a car from Urumqi. I (foreigner) was the driver (I have a Chinese driving license). We traveled from Kuqa to Dushanzi. There were checkpoints in the beginning, and in the end of Duku Highway. They stopped us, checked our documents and wished us a nice trip- there was no problem. The only problem is that foreigners (in this case- your gf) will not be allowed to sleep in a hotel in the middle (Bayan Bulak), only you will be allowed. But she as a foreigner can sleep in a ger (yurt) along the road- there are several yurt resorts. In our case- we just spent the night in the car, because there was a mud slide before Bayan Bulak and we had to spend the night in the car while they repair the road. So, you are Chinese, you can drive the car without problem, and your gf can be with you.

Hi Ania, yes, Eden 2 can't be found on the map. We found it when we walked about 40 min on the beach from Mapaddegat village, following the coastline to the end of the bay of Mapaddegat. Eden 2 is located at the coast, exactly where the bay finish, and the coastline turns southward.

This road is going through two Tengri-Tagh ranges, both separate Northern and Southern Xinjiang and between them is lying Yulduz Valley, that is being inhabited by Torghout Mongols. Paradise for nomadic people that is full of rich pastures for horses and cattle. Also, this road is crossing Kunges River that is tributary of Ili River and is flowing from the Mountains to Baghistan or Ili River Valley, that was inhabited by 400,000 Ili Uyghurs in 1949 ( about 70 % of population) when PRC was formed, but composition of present population is unclear.

@@journeybeyondthehorizon6270 There is no maybe maybe, the truth is known except for those who choose to turn blind eyes to the situation. East Turkestan was free country until 1947 when communist Mao went and invaded its territory like Tibet and inner Mongolia. Since then, ethnic cleansing against the Uighurs in the most brutal way did never stop. The iphone you carry most likely is made with parts manufactured through forced labor in those CCP camps.
