hey just a curious question, why is it that most Ducati motorcycles users who start there motorcycles they do not pull in the clutch, but just press the ignition button, but other motorcycles you have to pull in the clutch?

A battery with a little more CCA will help.. 210CCA is good for a 250cc

thats one issue. the other issue is the reduction gear comes loose

I hold the clutch in when I start it helps a lot

Yep, I always do that on all my bikes. One day someone is gonna trust their Neutral sensor too much and start the bike without pulling the clutch and their bike is gonna lurch forward and fall XD

That battery is in need of replacement. Go with a lithium ion for a much quicker start!

I’ve also did a video about the voltage regulator, check it if you want (it’s in Italian, but I think you can use automatic translator). I didn’t finished the work yet, because I’m waiting to receive a fireproof sheath for the cables. 😉

Good work! I also have a 1098s, your videos are very useful! I would suggest you to try with a litium battery: the starting is far better because you have more “kick” from the battery (this engine has very big piatons 😅). Obviously you need a charge keeper, but I see that tou already have one. I had a lithium battery since about 3 years.

maybe your starter is also dead... But what a know is... The YUASA must always be fit.... After 3 year it is dead....

HOW MUCH BETTER, or more powerfull is the 1198 over the 1098 ??? which one is more prone to have more problems ??? im about to jump the gun on one of this 2, i see a lot of 1098 and not so many 1198. CHEERS GOOD BIKE

1198 has a little more power and TC but it's probably the most scary TC I have ever experienced and it upsets the bike rather than help. So I just rode with it disabled. Chassis and electronics are nearly identical, with the same gremlins and potential issues (don't get it wet). Personally I'd have either they're both smashing bikes, just make sure you keep an eye on the bike's voltmeter. If it goes below 12v while running its got the old reg/rectifier which is fitted by the front downpipe and melts. If you see a regulator mounted to the side of the cylinder through the fairing slot, then its had the regulator fix mod and should be good.

I’ve got a 1098 and had similar issue. Put new stator wires in and new battery starter leads, starts perfectly, even after being stood for 9 days.
