Hi Marie!! This video was so helpful, I made my first successful emulsified body butter by watching this and reading your blog posts. It looks like a few things went wrong though, and I’m doing some research to figure out why. Maybe you could offer some insight? The first thing is that I substituted e wax NF for BTMS 50, I was working on two formulations - one that uses btms at 10% and the other at 4% (I’ll be making the 4% one tomorrow). I also used Optiphen as my preservative. When I double boiled the water and oil phases, the oil phase solidified really really quickly, so I added it and I barely had to use my emulsion blender to get it to the right consistency - it was nice and smooth though. But once I added the optiphen the formulation turned a little clumpy, nothing crazy but not smooth. It had no thick chunky lumps but it’s just not smooth until you rub it in your hands. Any advice? ok, I admit as a newbie, I have overindulged in a massive quantity of oil fragrances. I love them... However, now that I have watched this video, I am planning on using my 16oz (yes, I know, yikes) in soap and making copycat hydrosols. I will say that this gives me permission to play more with ideas and use it all up. Thank you for your great advice and I look forward to getting your book. Thanks for your channel, I am learning a lot and this is so much fun! PS, If something with soap doesn't work, throw it in the laundry soap. Ha😂

What if my emulsifying wax NF is already 6-7 years old, and it's smells fine and looks fine, can it be used? Or i must throw it? Is it dangerous to use expired emulsifiers or waxes?

I have just read this: People should not apply isopropyl alcohol to the skin for any reason, as it can pass into the bloodstream and cause poisoning. Rubbing alcohol is better for use in first aid and to sterilize small objects or surfaces.

Why do you add Xanthan gum. The hyaluronic acid should make it thick.

I followed your recipe minus coloring and fragrance. I ended up with a very dry crumbling product that I had difficulty putting into the molds. It was so hard, even though I pressed it into the mold it worked the shape of the silicone molds 😮

Hey Marie my mom loves listening to your videos, she loves making her own stuff and is learning from you how to do it but she has a set back she's blind and wants to know if you could help with a formulation for a hydrating face toner she adores soon to be discontinued and my mother is on a fixed income this would save her alot of money. This is her daughter who does the messaging and or typing for her. Please help she ❤you so much and believes in you and all your formulations. The formulation will be for her use only. I don’t understand how to actually calculate the amount of emulsifying wax. I am bad at math and I don’t understand percentages. So what is the math used to determine the percent ?

How do you get scents to last longer on the skin using these additives. I have a scent i love but the smell disappears in like 10mminutes.
