Whew, we had 8+ inches of rain here in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Some of the cricks, runs, and streams for sure looked like that. Other than the suicidal deer, Im glad you came out relatively unscathed!

Love the meditative quality of this song. And so beautiful seeing new life. I observed that mama sheep keep on foraging and eating even while little ones try to nurse. It's like a challenge for the little ones to nurse. But I guess it's nature's way of getting them moving and using their legs to keep up with Moving Mama.

Maybe you are using the wrong size wire spacing for goats? Since you have babies you may want to use the netting size for chickens. Electric netting requires an electric fence energizer with a minimum of 0.50 output joules for every 165'.
@healingpasturesfarm89
@healingpasturesfarm89 26 күн бұрын
Thanks Diana, These are sheep. The particular netting the lamb got caught in has smaller spacing lower down and the lambs can't get through it. It's actually better if they can (I have some premiereOne fencing which allows the little ones to squeeze through.). But the real key is that I had too much fence on the charger. I've also had sheep get tangled when I stupidly left a roll of netting in the pasture and their curiosity got one of them tangled. For me the lesson is always, "Check the gosh darn fence!"

Wow! I love the song and the visuals are so mesmerizing! I find it so fascinating just to watch rain drops, rain rivulets, rain sheets. Love the rain against the black background. Fantastic arrangement by Joe Mennonna. Neat changeup to have the song at the beginning of the post. I love the happy energy of the sheep when you open up a new area that's bursting with abundance of yummy things for them to eat. So interesting that the raccoon has only taken eggs so far. I'm surprised Luna hasn't ferreted him out yet. So exciting to hear you have restaurants interested in purchasing lamb! Word is getting out! 😃

Thank you for an informative video! At 3:55 you mention "there are plenty of rocks to harvest". In using the term "harvest", does this mean you are able to generate income from a place that takes rocks? Or are you using the term just to mean "get them out of the field"? What do you use to mark (tee hee) the sheep? Will there be a Part 2 to describe leveraging the expenses? That new pasture looks like it could feed the sheep for months! You could lose the lambs in there! 😊 Neat plan for getting rid of the buckthorn. Those deer flies are so vicious! I would have thought the rain would have tamped them down, but I see that is definitely not the case. I couldn't believe it when you said "if it can stay dry for a few days" and then boom! the rain came again! Oy! Thanks again for educating future farmers and us non-farmers on the details of having a farm business. Also glad to hear you made some more videos!

During the first 2 minutes you have such a great callj-and-response with the sheep: "Sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep c'mon" "Baaah" Spike and Mocha are so adorable together! Those flies are insane! What a pretty bird -- I don't remember seeing one like that before. After the rain, the sheep have formed an organized protest, all that's missing are the signs "No more wet meadow" "Dry fields for sheep" "Dry land now!" "Sheep for new pastures" It's so quiet over by the cows! The sheep are so noisy, the ducks are always noisy, the river was roaring, and then...almost not a sound can be heard. I like the song -- a good reminder for us all that "life happens". Thanks for another great post!

Thank you for packing so much into this video! Great lessons and important questions. at 1:46 you talk about challenges to our grooviness feelings -- I think these challenges can be a helpful "forced pause" to get our attention and make us evaluate what's going on while we're just cruising along. So wonderful to hear "Summer Storm" -- it's been a few years, I think, since I last heard it. Seems like the pauses before "with me" are longer than in previous recordings -- I like it. I also appreciate that at 16:30 you include some of your video of the St. Lawrence River, which is just as much "America" as the landmarks you had shown previously (e.g., State of Liberty). What is that box at 17:13 that the person is putting coins into? LOL! I like the meditation at the end. The dogs look so small! It was interesting that at the beginning, it was Luna who was demanding lots of attention, instead of Max. Amid the sheep, the dogs look like just another variety of sheep! At 27:22 you mentioned the sheep seem a lot less afraid of you now. Well, since you rode in the trailer with them, they think that you are one of them, a tall sheep! Love seeing your dad at the end. And I love seeing men in kilts! It's not a "utility kilt", it's just a "kilt" and your dad is rocking it!

Speaking of decisions... I am really starting to lay out the startup costs of doing a single little herd of sheeps(no more than a dozen) to rotate for this land improvement system as a business. Have you considered drafting a semi-standardized "contract" with future landowners? I have a feeling that in this neck of the woods of Virginia, I would need a locked down contract and have to be ready for a tussle just because of the nature here. Back home in Northwern WI, I have a feeling that may not need to be a thing per se. Oh, this knowledge saturation is what I call my ADHD superpower. I have been on a sheep bend for months now XD I have decided that this exact trailer is what I will end up with, should I be able to find one when the time comes. I have seen it on circle P's channel, and thought it was the sweetest thing. I have yet to see one not all rusted up, so I wonder if they make these sliding door styles anymore.
