Great video! Not a criticism, just a question... if the clockspring connector hadn't been broken getting it out, could you have adapted it over to run the original horn wires to the horn button on that wheel? (If the horn button fit, I mean...)
@RacerXGarage2 күн бұрын
I dont think so, its much larger than the aftermarket wheel, and has to be removed for the adapter to fit. I bet someone could 3d print something for the cancel cam, but I dont think you can get the horn to work without a really early column because they were the same as GM

Im kind of lost limited slip is not full blown posi can you hold the other side or does it still spin the same way as your turning meaning if you hold other side does it stop spinning?
@RacerXGarage12 күн бұрын
"limited slip" and "posi" are interchangeable terms. They are the same thing; "posi" being a Mopar coined phrase from their "posi-traction" carrier, most other manufacturers term their carriers "limited Slip". They're both clutch style carriers that under load will turn both sides at the same time, yet when not under load will allow for the outer wheel to spin faster than the inner in a turn. Either carrier will allow you to stop spinning one side when testing it by design (clutches) but they key difference from a non "posi/limited" would be that "open" differentials use spider gears. You can tell a open differential by turning one wheel and the opposing wheel will rotate the opposite direction. The only style carrier that will always spin the opposing wheel would be a spool or mini spool setup (and sometimes a locker but it will stop if needed).

I can not for the life of me find those -12 a fittings with the barbed fitting.
@RacerXGarage12 күн бұрын
I think I said these were 3/8ths in the video but I believe they wound up being 5/16 barb. Either way, they are very difficult to find, and I wound up changing it to a catch can system.

Pozdrowienia z Teksasu! I try studs, may work for you but made getting the valve cover on and off very difficult for me. I found the valve cover I had the holes where not exactly drilled spot on. The studs didn’t allow enough wiggle room with everything on the engine. I also had issues with lock nut and washer clearance. You had a clever workaround. I finally just scraped the idea and when back to the cap screws. Be thankful the previous owner had not drilled out those shallow holes. More often than not they’re drilled too deep into the cooling jacket and that creates a whole new set of problems. Image my surprise went I went to replace the cover gasket and had a coolant fountain . 😅
@RacerXGarage17 күн бұрын
its not ideal in any way thats for sure. I think we'll see how it goes, at least its not leaking at the moment but I do think the headgasket is toast, so will likely have to come back off... Bummer... Thanks for the insight!
@we77316 күн бұрын
@@RacerXGarage head gasket not a big deal but I recommend checking the lifters and replacing any that are worn and if badly worn may need to check cam. The 4.2l is pretty tough engine. If take care of.

If you don't need the full 72 length in one piece... it's cheaper to just get the 56"+ side cabinet which is exactly the same as the 72".

So should you do that front to back connection on all dodge magnums? Or was it because of the time of radio and or wiring harness?
@RacerXGarage12 күн бұрын
The front to back connection was only for the reverse camera I installed at a later date. So you don't have to run it if you're not installing a camera.

I got a 79 RamCharger 5.9L 4x4, and I rebuilt engine and new Edelbrock carburetor, and because it's been having issues starting and then stalling, and it was sitting for over 10-15 years thinking I need to clean the tank and replace fuel lines!? What do you recommend?
@RacerXGarageАй бұрын
I'd def start with a visible fuel filter and see if it is picking up junk, if it is, then yes prob needs lines, or a pickup. Luckily most of these tanks are plastic, so they don't corrode themselves.

Since boats don’t run a pressure system you all probably could have put job weld on the block and sealed it.
