Also I believe by 2006-2007, Nicko was using a prototype of what would become the Signature Reflector Powerslave Bell Ride- you can see it in the Matter of Life And Death "making of" DVD from 2006 and the Download 2007 footage
@PicardManeuver4 күн бұрын
Nicko used a 22" Signature Power Ride from around 1990 - 1993 (No Prayer tour thru A Real Live Tour), with an additional 20" Signature Power Ride from 1990 - 1991.

Great explainer! I used to own a V2 21" Dry Heavy and ended up replacing it with a V1 21" for a great deal (thanks GC!) While I love them both, the V1 is just a much more articulate cymbal. Neither are truly "dry" in the way that most modern drummers imagine a "dry" cymbal sound. The lower fundamental and slightly more controlled overtones of the V1 strike a unique tonal balance, whereas the V2 to me always sounded very similar to a Power Ride.

Thanks for the post, I now know more about them. I have a new set of 14" Platinum hi hats tucked away that I picked up at a flee market in Orange County for $30.00 in the mid 90's.

The Standard ones sound like what I want my drum samples to sound like, Brass with Bottom, the Platinum ones sound like what they do sound like, eq'ed. You can really hear the difference on the HiHat, the first cymbal hits were not too far part but the difference became noticeable as the demo went on. Definitely a noticeably brighter Cymbal.

PING RIDE WITH THE GONGISH CRASH
@willsmith21617 күн бұрын
My friend had a complete set of platinum cymbals. They all broke within 6 months! We called Zildjian and living in Mass. they had us drive down to the factory in Norwell. After inspecting the damage they immediately offered a set of Regular brass finish A & Z cymbals without question. Our whole time at the factory was about 1 hour. So, clearly they knew of a problem to make replacements so quickly at no cost.

@@seanwalton4687 I found that the clearcoat over time, gets dirty and is hard to clean. Also, I first noticed some of the clearcoat was flaking off and the chrome underneath looked brighter and shinier where the clearcoat was flakes off. Removing it also makes the cymbal a bit brighter sounding.
