AoS is going the 40K route with the 'mini-game'. It's called Combat Patrol in 10E. You buy the Combat Patrol box and you have a full, if small army, that is balanced against the other Combat Patrols. Granted, the list might only have you using part of your box set miniatures (that's the case with the Custodes).

There is nothing that prevents you from moving tactical speed into area terrain like a wood. Dashing, terrain and cross county, trade shooting for additional move distance.

The 8 inches was part of the victory conditions for the defender. The Brits would win starting at turn 6 if no Germans were within 8 inches of an objective, so the Germans had to push something within that range to avoid instantly losing at the start of British turn 6.

The 2" rule is only for infantry vs infantry or infantry vs tanks. Tanks vs tanks has no minimum distance.

​@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall Really doesn't matter what you or I think about it, it's a method that's gonna get less and less popular on the account that motion/simulator sickness is constantly on the rise with each generation. But of course I understand there is a limit to what you can do within a budget. I'd look into a camera that can do higher FPS recording with less motion blur. Or maybe it doesn't matter and most your fanbase doesn't care. Just feedback in the end of the day. But yeah there are a lot of other battle rep styles out there that I like, just sadly none for specifically ww2/historical battle reports, I guess that might be why the sub genre is slowly dying... A lack of adaptability and a resistance to innovation can lead to things being left behind. Not that it matters, your house your rules, what matters is if you have fun making these, anyway good luck bro, would've been fun for me if it didn't make me sea sick lol

You are correct, close combat starts at 2D6, up to a max of 6D6.

If you want to take out buildings use gravitons. Apoc launcher with mere -1 when buildings save on 2d6 is too unreliable. Grav gun meanwhile has very high chance of blowing building(and if there's multiple buildings closeby could even try to blow several since 1 shot can kill whole building). Apoc is at it's best threatening infantry outside buildings. Especially as it ignores los. Apoc plus 2xgrav cannon would be rude. Infantry either gets bombarded in open or go to building that gets collapsed. Better vs tanks like russ as well
