Just got back from SF. I stayed at a hotel in Union Square. I actually remember thinking how far the water traveled after I flushed or showered in my 8th floor hotel room.

We should leak all the sewage leaks in our pipes / treatment plants. A lot more water wasted there than a dripping faucet. Norcal reservoirs must release so much of their limited fresh water in order to "Flush the Bay." Unacceptable!! We've been leaking sewage into our bay for over 3 decades.

This video is lying to you. I've been down multiple levels of this system. It goes forever. I've never seen anything so complex and intricate as this system. It's very, very old. I don't believe that the original settlers here had the knowhow to build such structures. The 49 niners? No way. The men who work down here are afraid of this place and they will only go down to a certain level and then stop.

Why hasn't the bay area fixed their leaky sewage pipes / treatment plants yet? So much fresh water from Folsom, Oroville, and Shasta is being wasted to flush their sewage out to sea. We need to build a diversion pipe so the water from Hetch Hetchy can be used to flush the bay. It's been 3 decades, when will they fix the leaks? These leaks are damaging the ecosystems in the bay and sea.

This portrays the individualization of responsibility! Large corporations try to shift the blame on to the individual. However, 80% of water used in California goes toward agriculture and only 20% of it is for urban use. The key to conserving water isn't through the individual turning off a faucet when brushing your teeth or taking a shorter shower, its about policy change!
