I like most of this trim except that the shoe looks a bit narrow and that he rasped so much on the outer wall, are there specific reasons for the narrow shoe and (according to what I've learned) excessive rasping? Doesn't rasping the outer wall this much compromise the strength?

I am not a farrier have had horses all my life I am. 73 you shoe horses like my grandfather and my dad and like i do file nails off before i pull shoes and the way put the shoes back on i have shown people how i shoes they think i am crazy.

Please don´t rasp the whole hoof wall up to the crown edge, this weakens the hoof. You should only rasp the lower third of the hoof wall!

Zoccolo nella misura giusta si ha tracciando una linea orizzontale, partendo con piede appoggiato, dai talloni e poi immaginando una linea verticale a partire dalla corona. Se per esempio è di cm 3,5 così deve essere dalla linea orizzontale fino a terra. Se è più alta c'è troppo zoccolo.

Great video. I use nippers to scrape dead sole. But never thought of using half rounds to aid in getting that much sole out. Thank you very much for showing this. It definitely will speed my day up.
