This was kind of the ABA version of Doc. George McGinnis good too.

you're are WRONG. in the late 70s the nba was rapidly loosing popularity. then bird and magic came in and saved the league. this is an accepted fact. l'm 78 and l followed the nba since l was 10 years old. how old are you? you are creating disinformation, buddy.

Walton dominated "the franchise". They eventually, put the franchise back on the bench to save him from looking bad vs Bill. When healthy, besides Russell, I'll take Walton any day.

I remember watching this when I was a kid. Walton had ALOT of help from Lucas on Jabbar that series but Walton was very good, competitive with Jabbar for those two years.

I would put Ewing top 5 all time before his knees gave way. He was well into his early 30’s in the mid 90’s, and could still outplay O’Neal at times.

Wilt really turned back the clock with his performance in this series. Kareem would end up getting the better of him in most of their meetings, but he was in rare form for this series.

All the young people who say Kareem is the GOAT forget there were times when everybody would rather have had a healthy Walton or Moses Malone. What other Goat candidate was out played at his position in more than one playoff series? Moses and Walton both outplayed Kareem.
@70sfan4 күн бұрын
Walton didn't outplay Kareem in that series and Kareem was old when he faced Moses.
@reggiecleveland2 күн бұрын
@@70sfan They got swept. Bill shot a better %, outrebounded Kareem, had more assists. More important watch the last 3 minutes of each game. He absolutley made the big plays when Kareem didn't. Kareem has some great throwing his hands, up whining to the refs, and blaming his teammate moments though..

Here's what the NY TImes had to say "SAN FRANCISCO, April 16 (UPI) - The San Francisco Warriors, trailing by 8 points late in the third period, rallied to defeat the St. Louis Hawks, 105-95, tonight and win the National Basketball Association Western Division title. San Francisco now moves on to Boston to open a best‐ofseven‐game series Saturday night against the Celtics for the pro basketball title. Wilt Chamberlain scored 39 points for the Warriors, who went on a 14‐point splurge that started with 2 minutes 50 seconds to play in the third period and ended 1with a shot by Al Attles that put San Francisco ahead, 83-77, early in the fourth. Guy Rodgers accounted for 8 of the points during the Warriors' surge in the seventh game of the series that had seen each club take turns sandbagging each other in the final two games. Attles tied the score at 77-77 when he hit a free throw after Zelmo Beaty had committed his fourth personal. Rodgers, who had 19 points for the night, then put the Warriors ahead to stay with a jumper and added another seconds later. The doughty guard was flattened with nine minutes to play during a scramble under the Hawks' basket, but he came back five minutes later and finished the game after Attles fouled out Bob Pettit paced the Hawks with 24 points, but was held to 5 in the final period with many of his shots being knocked down by Chamberlain and Nate Thurmond, San Francisco's 6‐11 rookie."
