I don't have a music career but tendonitis certainly has ended my gardening hobby for this year. These exercises feel wonderful - wish I had known this a few years ago. Many thanks

Of course! These exercises would benefit most people with arm tendonitis and/or folks with some arthritis too. Glald you enjoyed!

As most of you know, severe tendonitis ended my performance career when I had just reached important milestones. It took 2 decades for me to come back from that crushing hit. I didn't know anything about "body mechanics" or even physical warm up exercises before I played a note. All of these exercises are terrific for your physical well being, improve manual dexterity, helps build hand and forearm strength and develop right brain left brain big time. What I share here, worked for me. But if you already suffer from pain, consult a medical professional first. I'm interested in your feedback, so please comment below. I haven't seen much on KZfaq about these types of prevention and strength building exercises for pianists. I didn't dive into the science behind it. Let me know if you're interest and I could line up a guest - I have the perfect Doctor to speak on the science of body mechanics for pianists.

It’s like you’re a mind-reader Paul! My Baoding balls arrived yesterday and I was warming up with them just as you posted this new video. I find ALL the warmup exercises and Hannon scales useful in my situation so thank you, (once again) for the expert advice. I opted for the medium 42mm solid stainless metal balls, that weigh 1/2 lb each! Gotta be careful with those,.. But I wanted to share that I began practicing the Baoding moves using a set of “Hand Therapy Squeeze Balls” that are roughly the same size and weight as the hollow 50mm Baodings that most folks use. The stress ball sets that are made of gel cores (in 3 densities) with a Lycra cover work well for Baoding - and they are perfect for strengthening and flexing the joints of both hands as well. And juggling 🤡

Thanks for the Masterckass and thanks for making such a nice song with my bongo track. Spain Chick Corea | Backing Track | Paul Tobey piano. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nZefm72jz6iyink.html. Never studied the song and drummed my own improvisation when it was played on a jam session by some very nice and inspired guitar players. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mZyFmaiiq9OwqYU.html

Hi Paul. Really enjoying the beginner jazz piano tutorial series. I’m pretty comfortable with the theory, just not as quick to pickup so have been rewatching each one. My question is how do you determine what extra note to insert for these bebop scales? For instance if I wanted to transcribe to say starting with key of G or F ? (You know, the next simplest key from C with only one sharp or one flat respectively.) Thanks in advance!

Very nice! Also you don’t see too many Ibach pianos state side. They are quite rare.
@Jazzmentl11 күн бұрын
They are rare in Canada. I personally have not yet run into another. I purchased mine from a banker who purchased it from a prominent dealer in Toronto in early 90's before the ivory ban. I was very lucky to find it. Needle in the haystack type of thing.

Hi Paul, your masterclasses are always very interesting. Congratulations! I’d like to ask if you could delve deeper, perhaps in a dedicated video, into how you improvise in sixteenth notes feel by providing examples with various patterns at a slower speed to better understand the mechanism. Thanks in advance.
