I originally got grip heaters intended for use on snowmobiles and installed them on my motorcycle many years ago. They worked great and were plenty warm. I think they were the Kimpex brand (same as Tusk brand) I usually ran them on low because your hands will be way too hot on high. Made riding in freezing temps so much nicer! I still install them on my bikes now too. They are alot cheaper than heated grips (I like to keep my stock grips) and work great!

Good video mate ! Learnt about continuity testing the frame ! How are the grips holding up? Have heard need more insulation off the bars to prevent heat loss

Can these work on a snowblowers Stader?
@trailtrashgarage
@trailtrashgarage 4 ай бұрын
Hmm if its a 12v DC system theoretically yes but I'm not sure how much juice your Snowblower stator would put out. Many small engines run a AC based system.
@demetriosa7646

I’ve already installed them. I added LEDS with a bridge rectifier and bypassed the halogen to free up more juice. They work perfectly!

Wow!! So maybe just a jump starts gets other parts moving that don’t do with a regular kick start. Makes sense. I hope I get mine started. Awesome that you never gave up! So what stater do I buy for my 2001 drz 400 kick start? ;) any suggestions?
@trailtrashgarage
@trailtrashgarage 4 ай бұрын
No it just gets the motor turning faster and longer than a kick start. If your DRZ has a starter motor replace with a OEM or take it to a shop what specializes in starter/alternator motors for a rebuild. If your DRZ never had a starter motor I don't imagine you could make one work without serious modification.

This is ridiculous! Should be able to take out the old stater and put in the new! Unless time is money and all mechanics get paid more the more complicated things get that take more time. What would a real shop do?? Fix it right??

Personally I would have liked a bit more detail on the electrical side, less of the 3d printed plastic. Yes the plastic looks good, however it's a classic bike, using wood, steel, aluminum or any other material could suffice to fill in the holes. That said it's one of the better yt tutorials. Good job.

Does the 2-into-1 exhaust change the way it runs? Did you have to do any jetting afterward? I really want to put high mount on my 440LTD,, but a little intimidated by the project.

Good looking bags! Good video! What about putting them on under the seat, is that a possibility? Then you could tuck the excess straps under there as well.
@trailtrashgarage
@trailtrashgarage Жыл бұрын
Not really with how those Dual Sport seats bolt on. Maybe if you took off the square pads and just used the straps the fish through. But I always find the bags hang down too far when you do that but maybe it would be ok with the crash bars / luggage supports. It’s a moot point tho because the DRZ is sold!!

Yes it’s running. Although I have to admit the fueling has never been completely sorted. I think the carb is just worn and continually leaking vacuum. It’s in Newfoundland now at Colin’s new place. I believe he is going to try a new Mikuni VM carb.
