I believe I was undiagnosed as a young woman back in the day ADHD it was attributed to boys. I was more like a boy as a child behaviorally, active, impulsive and extremely inattentive in school. Did not have any friends in elementary school, somehow the structure limited my ability to express myself. My home life was horribly abusive and so I went into substance use, still impulsive until I crashed. When I got clean, my brain was still never "normal" always struggling with understanding, motivation, keeping a job, etc....Since I had trauma, I was treated for anxiety and depression and ocd like thoughts as well as BPD traits. I did not feel like the BPD diagnosis fit me. I ended up being treated for cptsd as well. I have been in over 10+years of therapy and struggling to make sense of it, of understanding what it meant. One of my 3 psychiatrists had the feeling I had adhd, but refused to treat me, I guess he assumed I was too unstable and stimulant's would make my situation worse. I finally received a simulant treatment over 5 years later where I keep trying to find work, but literally can keep sabotaging myself. I was told I had no motivation, which hurt deeply because I was trying so hard. I have been working on and off and it is always so painful to have a job, as if I am disjointed somehow. Anyway, the stimulant's are helping, I'd rather honestly have a non-simulant treatment, but now my doctor won't prescribe them because he doesn't know the meds. It's incredibly frustrating and accessing a psychiatrist where i live is virtually impossible. I've lost so much time in life, if only people cared more and took this more seriously, rather than making it about us being flawed somehow and less worthy.

Husband got stage 4 cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy. Liver doc said Cymbalta was fine...then I looked into it and found out that it can actually cause liver failure. Hubby has non alcoholic cirrhosis. Getting off this medication is the first thing to do. Not good.

My mom had the same diagnosis. She passed away five years ago. At that time they gave her Prozac, if I remember correctly. I'm so sorry you and your husband are going through this. It's definitely a tough sickness both physically and mentally, therefore he needs an antidepressant that is known to be effective with minimal side effects. Not something like cymbalta that is so painful to get off from. Some liver docs suck. They know very little about compassion and mental health.

Girl, I think I have ADHD too. That’s literally what started me on my mental health journey. I was in the military at the time & they told me “You have Major Depressive Disorder.” Ok, cool… then they told me I had Borderline Personality Disorder NOW I’m out of the military but I still see the VA and they now think I have bipolar disorder 😑 All of this, just so they can avoid saying I was misdiagnosed. My brother and my dad have ADHD so like, I’m not surprised if I do actually have it. But of course, I’m an adult woman who did well in school so the doctors don’t take me seriously when I say I think I have ADHD. I’ve quit Ariproprizal and now I’ve quit Cymbalta. These withdrawal symptoms aren’t it. I feel terrible. 😓

People on this subject mention mention that they wish they never agreed to go on this medication, in my opinion it’s a neurotoxin, I’m currently weaning of it in a hospital setting. It comes down to informed consent,, I was never told about the numerous possible side effects of being on it. In my opinion this drug should be discontinued .

I've been on Cymbalta for 15 years.. After a bad relapse of anxiety/depression in November of 2022 I was told I shouldn't have been on the drug for so long, and decided to come off of it. I tapered from december to march. 60mg to 30mg, which was horrible. 30 to 20, then when I tried 20 to 0 it just knocked me on my ass, so I bead-counted to 10mg, and after a week of that I came off completely.. I'm 3.5 weeks into being off the tablets, week 1 was brain-zaps, and dizziness, week two was horrible vertigo/dizziness and now in week 3/4 I'm waking up in the morning with bad anxiety, nausea, diarrhea, it's making me feel depressed because I don't feel normal in my head, I can't enjoy things I usually do - and I don't know where to go from here.. The doctors all think this shit vanishes in two weeks, well it certainly doesn't. I'm worried this tablet has permanently damaged my brain's ability to make certain feel-good chemicals now, and maybe that's why I feel so awful 4 weeks in.. I just want it to go away, and I want to feel normal.

i know there's a huge shortage right now but have you ever considered trying adderall? it starts at 5mg both immediate release and extended release so it's much easier to control your dose! i would recommend immediate release because it passes through your system quicker and it sounds like maybe that was what you were struggling with? the timing of it? i would just be aware to check the manufacturer of your generics because they only make generics now for the IR version. hoping you're doing much better now!!

Started with Adderall twice a day and it made me crash. So I took it at bed time and my problems were solved. Told the doctor and she said nope. Switched to XR and the dopamine was all day. Got off because I thought I was being responsible. Past 5pm I shouldn’t be that stimulated. Lowered the dose and I made me a potato. Here I am on 20 mg vyvance. My doctor laughed when I asked what dose and she said pediatric. Don’t get the humor but that’s where she’s at with it. 20 mg seems to have me moving. I’m still a tad fatigued but I’m moving so that’s an improvement. If we don’t bump the dose I can see us doing a 10mg IR adderall in the morning to go with it. After 1130 I’m fine. I take it at 6.

I noticed that this was a year ago… how are you doing now? I’m 57, just diagnosed, on Vyvance 20mg to start. No nausea but full headache. I take mine at 5am and am ready for bed around 6pm but wait until 9 to sleep. I saw a vid where someone was on the long-lasting & needed to look after family in evening… they added a very low dose or adderal for evening. Are you in the Van, BC area? I’m a couple cities away across the river. You are SPOT ON when you talked about those stupid tests and how our behaviour affects others. They need to update those & make a test for women. I can’t believe your doctor was still that ignorant about ADHD & women. It’s def frustrating. Hope you do an update as I’m just barely starting out & would like to hear how your year went. Did you

My experience is like a horrible hangover with severe anxiety and it's out of nowhere and out of character for me. Extreme exhaustion in my chest, nausea, clenching teeth, ears ringing and headache. It just lingers and sticks around and I'm taking it for fibromyalgia. It makes me feel so sick 🤢 and it causes a horrible low mood like after a big, ugly break up and profound broken heart feeling. It zaps the life out and yet hard to get to sleep. Too exhausted and tense to relax, and when I do finally doze off I wake up from night terrors and weird livid dreams. It's not worth the suffering when there's other treatments available. This medicine should be banned.

Thank you for this video I’ve been on concerta for almost 2 years in the beginning I felt it helped me a lot and you definitely took the words out of my mouth..I to felt as if I could actually focus on people talking to me and could understand what they were fully saying, but it didn’t last for long, within a week or two it was wearing off within a couple hours, so my nurse practitioner increased and increased and it would maybe last an hour longer but the symptoms have been unbearable I have focus for a couple hours and then I have crippling anxiety all day and I’m so tired and dragging my feet all day, I never wanna leave my house because the anxiety is so bad and I’m soo exhausted. I’ve gone up and down on these meds. I’m going to make an apt with my family docter to see if there’s anything I can do, because I would rather go off of concerta then have to continue to go through this crazy rollercoaster. Thank you ❤

I've taken it for three years and I regret it entirely, now that I've stopped taking it. I attributed all the negative symptoms to my rather bad mental health during the pandemic. I was already overweight and I gained so much during these years, despite not eating that badly. I'm very angry at my clinic for not doing any kind of follow up during these years. The worst part is, I feel better doing cold turkey than not, even with these withdrawal symptoms, I feel like I can study now.

I've been prescribed the patch when I was a little kid, then focalin, riddilin, Adderall, Concerta and then vyvanse. I'm now 24 and I can say Vyvanse is the most balanced as far as weighing the pros and cons. I was on adhd meds from 1st grade to a few years after highschool. I stopped for a few years, but now recently went and got represcribed Vyvanse bc I'm about to start college. I took 70mg of vyvanse everyday in highschool, but now I decided to try 50mg a day since I'd stopped for a few years. WOW was the 70mg a disgustingly strong dose for me in highschool, I can't believe I took it everyday, 50mg even feels a little much every once in awhile. I used to hate my parents growing up for sticking me on strong stimulants starting as a kid because I felt like in doing that, they completely erased any semblance of a baseline of my personality or just brain function as a kid. They didn't know, I was their 1st kid and neither of my brothers got prescribed anything like that. I'm ranting now but, Vyvanse has done me good for awhile, the logistics of all these different stimulant based ADHD medications is just insanely few and far between, from person to person, crazy how differently each medication can affect any given person. Anyways😅 Hope your doing well!
