I have a different set up to this with dual pedals, short pedals that sit beside the main rudder pedals, pidgeon toe your feet in for ground steering very precise and tight. But when taking off, flying or landing you have your feet just on the pedals and it casters like this. I could never understand why in decades of flying these light gyros almost no one does this. So many $100 000 machines have direct steering, some with spring dampeners which still don't do enough to stop a roll over in this sort of situation, and what's more the spring dampened ones have a crap turning circle and you may as well be just castering and using rudder because on a grass strip at slow speed that's the only thing turning you around on a narrow taxiway. Good on you guys top design. If I wasn't into building my own gyros I'd be buying one of yours. Great innovation from what I've seen in so many little areas that indicate you guys aren't just scaling up Bensens (nothing wrong with them) and putting sexy glass pods on and charging $100 000+ you are actually thinking about 2/rev, thinking about torque effects, thinking about ground handling, rough ground etc. Great work. Practical tough machines.

Wowh ... even hovering backwards with a pusher engine.thats impressive. I wish other modern gyro companies would lean on more close to the safety features, e.g. impackt absorbing suspension and turnable front wheel to avoid tipover in cross winds, emergency shut down switches and break release on the trottle/clutch handle as shown in another video about the M2 by Jim himself kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ncWlm9B4nq3HcoU.html

Wonder if Gyros were ever considered for military use maybe for forward air controller. Their ability to fly slow and low but much lower operating cost then helicopter would be. Probably not for the US but others who budget is much lower.

Turkish military just bought a bunch. There exist also medic versions. Much cheaper than SAR helicops.

Really interesting. I'm only a good Lottery ticket away from showing up at your door. Wish there were more current videos. Areas of interest would include engines. Car engine conversion might be the future the way the world is going. Sport Copter looks like it has solved many of my concerns.

The floats of this gyroplane or gyrocopter can be filled with hydrogen to reduce it's weight. In other words, more fuel can be carried to fly farther.

Nice Jim! Little Robertson STOL Action. Could been a 182 landing. But it too slow of an approach and the wing goes around in circles. Very Nice Sir! Jim $160 k without all the faults that come with other gyroplanes. I call that a winner. You have far exceeded all in your class. The design is beyond any thing in its class. I wish we were having that talk again in this gyroplane. Zenith has CH701 SkyJeep. You have a flying Ripsaw. Years ago we sat in your SportCcpter II. I was a Sport Pilot then. I noticed Cavalon has a small wing on tail boom below and aft of the prop. Bunt Over add on. I remember we talked about tail being in clean flow. That was back when you had changed the tail on SCII. Interesting airfoils in the mains I see. Nice R & D work Jim. Cheers

@@plantpower3048 I disagree. A two place, purpose built gyro, designed specifically for mustering has plenty of utility, with the added benefit of being a trainer. And, there is storage on the floor that is equal to any other two place gyro I've seen on the market that used pods or storage behind the seats. It wasn't designed or built to replace a Cherokee 6.
@jimbair2 жыл бұрын
@@plantpower3048 Have you ever flown a 2 place helicopter? Like say a Robinson R-22. 350 pounds of people, 20 gal of fuel, and everyone gets to bring a toothbrush. That was it. Rotorcraft in general don't replace a C-182 for carrying loads.

He does loops and rolls. I wonder if it can split-S. The danger in a fixed wing is accidentally Split-S ing out of a botched roll. You enter at a fairly high rate of speed where as if you split out of the top of a loop, the aircraft is slow. A botched roll split-s can generate speeds well beyond Vne and shed wings.
@crawford3233 жыл бұрын
Question? Typically the stress of a two blade semi rigid rotors due to the acceleration of the advancing blade and the deceleration of the retreating blade, due to the shift in CG of the blades is taken care of due to the blade hub being under-slung. Lead-lag hinges on a teeter type system are rarely incorporated. Obviously this addition was done for a reason. What advantages are the result of these hinges?

It's billed as a 'copter' but certainly isn't a helicopter - it's correctly called an autogyro not a gyrocopter. That main rotor is unpowered and is thus in constant freewheeling autogyro mode.
