James stop picking up random crap. The rule of thumb for hoarding is to pick up only things which have weight/cost ratio 1 to 10, 1 to 8 at worst.

Idk why James is being stubborn about not leveling the summons. Clearly you guys need to change things up a bit; you can't even get to the DLC. There are countless ways in which you could improve the situation here

You both gotta remember that you’ve beaten this game before, you can do this! James, make all/all but 1 or 2 of your flasks blue, so you can continue Rock Slinging in phase 2. If you stay ranged, you can keep the pressure on him and stun him without needing any heals. Danny, dual wield the same weapon type and bleeeed him, he is weak to bleed so pick weapons that do a lot of hits (daggers and katanas are solid choices there).. if you want to use the mimic, level it up, and put some items in your quickbar that you’d like the mimic to be able to use. Swarm Pots, warming stones, poisonbone darts are all helpful.. Frost can also come in handy, as it does a bulk damage when it procs and also makes other attacks do more damage for awhile. Bleed and frost (and poison) are a good combo! For the “nihil” attack, start at full health and you should only need to heal once, between the 2nd and 3rd blasts, and survive. That attack is also good time to get some hits and bleed in on him! Don’t give up, skeletons!

I think James is a little eager to get to the DLC. For the amount of attempts, you could've attained a good chunk of the progression needed to beat him.
