Look at me I made it 15 minutes before I decided to never go back to this video. That was the point when I learned that half of the podcast couldn’t even do their due diligence. I am surprised that you didn’t get destroyed in the comments by people who were interested in a breakdown of Jenny’s video. I guess you can be thankful that you lack the success that would be required to attract any sort of comments. Just keep doing this kind of research and providing this level of quality and I’m sure you will never have to worry about it.

Maybe this could help about repro or reproduction back about 20 years ago I used to Flint nap arrowheads. That is taking the actual chirp, or Flint.and making a Arrowhead. We would call it a genuine reproduction.

Loved the predictions! At least some are bound to come true? I sure hope so. Spot on commentary about the un-tapped potential with the Kenner Retro line! Would jump at a chance for a new Death Star Haslab. The Micro Galaxy Squadron comment hit a nerve. I haven’t been so delighted and frustrated by a toy line in a long time. They’re gorgeous to look at and so finely detailed/crafted, and the powers that be simply don’t seem to understand how to get product into stores and that they need to make popular figures and ships widely available and limit the chase / rare nonsense to less sought after variables. That you don’t make Luke’s landspeeder a rare ship because it’s an iconic vehicle that the average person will recognize while making Asaj Ventress’s ship or the V-Wing your common, widely produced vehicles. Oh well. On to the next. I really like what GI Joe Classifieds are doing with their line.

Great show fellas. I try to escape politics in my fantasy sci-fi but Disney Era Star Wars keeps pushing it. Both making the statement in the first place and then the over reaction by some in the fan base are both moronic. Doesn’t matter what side you are on, why does a Sci Fi fantasy film that should be geared to younger audience be the place to promote ANY political agendas. Just shut up and tell me a cool story. Just my two cents.

Why not making the big ships the real scale? Why always try to scale down stuff? I wish a company nowadays do what 21st century toys did back in the early 2000's ,they did real 1/18 scale stuff and worth buying at great price point but nowadays everything seems so hard to accomplish even with the technology....that's what got me out of this collection....
@lorearna6267

I have a question, why they keep making th big ships so out of scale......its kind of sad when the falcon and the ATAT are so small and please don't tell me the size of the box,Im talking about enlarging the scale model a little bit more?......
@JayDubsShow
@JayDubsShow 9 ай бұрын
It comes down to cost. Bigger ships will cost more, and the team is trying to hit a specific price point. That means the falcon needs to be a little smaller

Weird. You’ve re-posted this after it was posted yesterday and I’d given lengthy and thoughtful comments about collecting Micro Galaxy Squadron. I hope you read it at least. Listen, it’s bullshit to call this a game. Hasbro, Jazwares, etc are manufacturers who are supposed to be selling widgets. All this limited nonsense is what’s killing their industry. These are fucking toys and should be widely distributed. The niche limited model is what’s driving away the average person from ever trying to collect anything because the odds seem to be stacked against them. Oh well. There’s no reason to support an industry that eats itself and makes its product inaccessible to the average person. Who cares about collecting at that point? There are much better, fulfilling ways of spending one’s money. PS: Jazwares is what attracted me to your channel. But it’s weak that you express frustration with their chase and rare figures, then backtracked about how “this is just how the game is played” hyperbole.
@smugglersgalaxy6990

Yes, we recorded this before your comment yesterday. Your grievances are valid. At the end of the day, life is too short to play games. Like you said, these are just toys. If you no longer love it, or no longer enjoy the hobby, take a break. Jazewares has several more waves lined up - all with chases and rarities. They don’t seem to be slowing down, and they don’t seem to be producing the toy line with the “collect all vehicles” mentality.

You might have been talking about me re: posting my frustration about the chase and rare Microgalaxy Squadron sets. In it you said you were checking yourself and that rare stuff is “just part of the game.” Hogwash. Toy sellers are manufacturers. They should be manufacturing to serve the market, not making things artificially scarce by limiting quantities. Again - who does this serve? It doesn’t serve them as a business - they’re not seeing a penny of the jacked-up amounts resellers are charging on e-bay. The point of a limited series of something is to charge a premium for an exclusive version of something you’re already selling. Booksellers, for example, will sell the regular edition of something, then the same thing with better packaging, or an exclusive poster or something. Movie studios still selling Blu-Rays and DVD’s - they sell a regular edition and then a limited edition in a steel book or something along those lines. I don’t really collect marvel or much of anything these days to be honest. I don’t have the space and my money mostly goes other places. But the Microgalaxy line sparked something in me and got me wanting to collect this line because simply put they’re really cool. And I’d like to - as Max himself put it - have a whole galaxy of this line of toys. So when of the series 1-3 lines are released and they make 3 out of the 5 sets containing females (Hera, Sabine, Ahsoka) rare for no reason at all, it makes the galaxy incomplete and really frustrating in the senselessness of it. (I’m not counting the variant Millennium Falcon or blind boxes.) And part of my frustration is parallel to your frustration with the Sabine Tie Fighter - I’m a huge Plo Koon fan and his ship is going to be limited and I’ll never find it in stores or for pre-order. And there’s a lot of other great looking sets that will be equally rough like General Grievous. Heck, they decided to make Luke Skywalker in his jedi outfit limited to 15k when it could easily sell well over 50k if they only continued manufacturing the line. If you could explain why this business model benefits toy companies, I’d appreciate hearing it.

Had not listened to the complete episode when I posted the above. I might add I’m an old school toy collector who had most of the Kenner Star Wars line, OG Transformers, GI Joe, MASK, etc. I was picking things up here and there over the years, but my money and interests changed. As you said, it was a different era then: you wanted a toy, you went to the store and got it. When toys were pulled, it would only be after over a year and after great distribution. Kenner, for example, managed to keep ALL of their figures for sale throughout the original SW run. That’s the benchmark I’m coming from, and what I’d at least hope for in a Star Wars toy line. I get some limited variants and the blind box thing (even if the ratio of figures in the boxes should be more balanced.) But by and large when I think Star Wars, I’m thinking their toys should be everywhere, like Lego Star Wars are. I hadn’t considered how much things had changed in the ensuing years from a sellers perspective. And I realize there aren’t many big box toys-only retailers out there these days. But maybe limiting distribution and releasing rare or chase variants only serves to drive away what potential customers remain? I mean, I can’t go on collecting an entire line if I can’t get the entire line. Maybe I’d pick up one or two in the future, but I wouldn’t invest in the line the way Jazwares would hope for as a business trying to capitalize on their toy line and license and sell as much as they can. Great episode. You made some good points. Thanks for the balanced viewpoints.

Postscript: The Anakin Starfighter and Poe X-Wing I’d ordered off Amazon said they were expected to deliver May 8. Then I got a notification they were moved up to May 5. Yippie! Just in time (ish) for May the 4th. I was checking on another package yesterday and noticed the ETAs on these vehicles have moved out and are now expected to deliver August 1. AUGUST 1???! 🤬 Jazwares biggest problem, again and again, is availability. The excuse of first having to move old product in order to sell new waves may make sense with regards to brick and mortar stores, but not Amazon, where they’re just warehouse-to-consumer and are selling well. Jazwares needs to focus on pressing the remaining 5k Sabine Ties before focusing on waves 4 and 5. Focus on getting waves 2 and 3 to market.

Waves should simply be when Jazwares re-manufactures toys that have sold out in stores, adding new toys as they’re developed and ready to be brought to market. They have the molds. Make more toys! It’s a no brainer.
@DanIAmIBe
@DanIAmIBe Жыл бұрын
No more limited sets!! You do a disservice to the market by limiting runs to 5k and 15k. Sure - make popular characters like Tec, Hera, and Sabine rare and hard to find. I’m already furious because I know I’m going to have to pay an arm and a leg to get a Plo Koon starfighter off eBay. Because Jazwares will likely limit it to 5k. I don’t care if they re-release it later, modified as a new set. It’s shenanigans and wholly unnecessary. Far be it from stoaking excitement in the line - it leaves a buying public high and dry. The Microgalaxy line is great and everything looks fantastic. But don’t give Max a forum to promote these toys without challenging him on the fan’s widespread frustrations about availability. Stop touting this as an affordable toy line when 1/4 of the sets aren’t available without steep mark-ups on the resale market. Deeply frustrating and tone-deaf in their not addressing this directly with the fans.

@@smugglersgalaxy6990 You’re likely right. You also had an audience with Max (and seemingly have the ability to communicate with Jazwares). Can you PLEASE press them on this? I can’t imagine justification for a) what they chose for limited release, b) why they even do it in the first place. Limiting popular characters and their ships, while making things like Ventress or the droid tank widespread releases, or flooding the market with 5 or 6 different LAAT’s at the same time is the very reason for the product not tiring over in stores, like you’ve mentioned. Rather than that, they should be mass producing popular characters any average SW fan would know will sell - Luke in his black robes X-Wing. Moff Gideon (to go with the Rasorcrest they released). Asoka’s star fighter. Hera. Sabine. Popular characters from SW tv and film - who are about to be featured in upcoming Disney shows. How in the world do they not anticipate demand? If you get an audience with them again, I’d really appreciate your addressing all of this with them. I want to buy the entire line - but can’t justify paying $130 for an Obi-wan on a Barc speeder because they are SO limited and rare. I finally found a Havoc Marauder in a Target and was able to get a Hunter in a blind box. I see Tec is supposedly in blind boxes, too, but exceedingly rare. What’s the point of putting this stuff out if you can’t build an entire universe? Will there even be snowspeeders for sale at the time the AT-AT’s go on sale for example? One of the very best things one can say about Kenner is that they managed to keep nearly the entire toy line in production from 1977-1985. THAT is the benchmark all toy manufacturers should strive for. Allow fans to collect.

Well Said......i notice in all the interviews they tip toe around asking him questions about why the chase and rare etc. He did sort of awnser about why in one interview but it was hog wash imo, And the interviewer did not follow up with neccesary questions. And like you said good luck finding the good ones..unless you want to pay alot of money on ebay.

Jazwares - allegedly transparent company - needs to explain how Rare and Chase variants help anyone beyond resellers. What is the point??! It doesn’t draw collectors to the line - it only serves as a source of frustration. Comic Con exclusives I get. Deals with stores to only carry certain vehicles I get. Blind boxes for the smallest vehicles I get. But limiting runs to 15k or 5k helps absolutely NO ONE beyond the people on eBay selling the supposedly new Sabine Tie or Hera vehicles for $300 and $100!! Crow all they want about dropping their price point - doesn’t mean a great deal when you can’t buy most of each wave at retail value. What’s REALLY bothersome to me is I’m a die hard Plo Koon head and am already gritting my teeth in expectation of the Plo Koon star fighter being limited to 5k while being a low-key Clone Wars favorite of well beyond 5k people. Btw, the reason the Retro Luke Prototypes are now shelf warmers is no one cares about prototype figures expect a very limited fee. If they were painted in true rebel pilot characters I bet they’d be flying off shelves. Enjoying the podcast! It’s hard out there for collectors.

Just recently discovered your podcast while looking for extra SW convo. Really enjoy it (have liked, subscribed, and rated!). One minor bit of feedback - when you’re preparing to sit down and record a 1-1/2 hr podcast, can everyone turn their computer / phone on silent? It seems like pre-podcasting prep 101. There’s an audible alert throughout this episode that’s annoying and easily avoidable.
