they don’t mention the need for a collage degree and over 2,000 hours to even be considered for a job.

2:23 “after 1500 hours it turns into an ATPL” is this an automatic transition, or do you have to do any extra training or pay any more money? And can you switch airlines after this? Thanks.

You don't pay more money. What happens is after 1500 hours your fATPL (Frozen ATPL) becomes unfrozen. In the case when you do an MPL, after 1500 of jet time your MPL converts to a normal ATPL, the same rating as everyone else, Airline Transport Pilot Licence. Switching airlines sure, but usually, when you do an MPL you are bonded with an airline for a specific amount of time, say for 4 years. After the bonding time is up, you are free to of course switch airlines. That's my understanding.

@@PorusAcousticsNo, you need to go through a conversion course for an MPL, it is not automatic. With easyJet, you are not bonded because you pay for the training.

Yeah, they’ve been advertising for weeks now. Would’ve expected this interview out earlier for the benefits of everyone.

An excellent session to listen to, thank you foe listing these online sessions from last years conference. I too have similar concerns as the last panellist regarding integrated courses that offer to bolt on degrees. Excellent if you plan to stay within aviation, however of little outside use. That said that the integrated courses that do offer a degree are then potentially subject to getting student loan funding that you would have access to for a normal degree - which if the case would provide a considerable help towards funding costs, albeit not cover the whole amount.

Given how hard it is to get an entry level job (let alone one that pays a liveable wage) due to the vast amount of competition, I'd say helicopter careers isn't that much of a secret.
