Great point prof. Eke, (at minutes 19:47 mark) "why is it threatening to recognize the rights of Indigenous ppl?"(the Afar, in this case), the state of Eritrea has masterfully used the" National Unity" card to Internally colonize the Afar nation. The national unity card or fear of the unknown has been also used unfortunately by those who claim to be democratic opposition in Diaspora. There can not be any justification to denying the rights of marginalized people either by the state, by the majority culture or ruling class. The more peoples rights are denied, the more disunity, the more chances of fragmentation. Great Job!👏

So sad 😭 I grew up with a lot of Afar in Assab. I remember having Afar classmates at Medhanialem school. Afar people were always very kind, I wish Shabia🤢 would let you practice your culture the same way you did when I lived there.

would you like Ethiopia to invade Eritrea, occupy Dankila, and hold referendum there if they want to be with Ethiopia or Eritrea? if Afar people join Ethiopia and unite with the Afarians, the Afar people would have full control over their land. Yet Ethiopia will have access to a sea and build a strong navy to defense herself. You scratch my back. I will scratch your back. In addition, it will benefit Afar people in Ethiopia. The Afar people in Eritrea and the Afar people in Ethiopia and the Afar people in Djibouti are same people. They are only separated by lines that white people drew for their own selfish reason. If the Afar people in Eritrea join Ethiopia, the Afar people in Djibouti will follow their footstep. And Afarians can build a bridge over Red Sea and connect Africa to Asia and boost their economy.
