Speaking of clones, although this one is from 2015, I really liked the version of Scramble by Thomas Kite. Far better than the slow paced one from Anirog.

I remember these were some of the best compilations available for the C64 at the time. They always managed to include decent games, unlike the majority of Ocean's compilations which would always put in an awful game as "filler".

Yeah these were the "Gold" standard for compilations looking back at them , there were plenty of dodgy collections

Especially to a 7 year old whi probably never even heardbor used the word yet. I never finished this game. When it gets to the point that you have to quickly memorize more than three colors before they turn gray, I'm hopeless. I hear the later levels rely strictly on sound. I'd never be able to get past that. One tip (also for Aliens): Aim for the SECOND gate/ring, not the one directly in front of you. When you only aim for the first one, you're not accounting for how the path will twist after you go through it. By aiming for the second one, you're keeping yourself on the path better, and the first ring will just kind of take care of itself.

This is one of those classic Activision games that really show how innovative the company was back in the early 1980s. I love the combination of the music and the visuals, and the gong game is so much fun. It's a much better game than Russel Lieblich's first attempt at a "musical experience" in the form of Web Dimension.

Choplifter was the very first cartridge I got for my Vic-20, which was my first computer. At first I needed my dad's help every time I wanted to insert the cartridge or take it out. So if it was during the day and I was just loading software from tape, I had to wait for my dad to get home before I could play Choplifter again. Fond memories. Now I have two copies of the C64 cart, but I didn't get either one until well into adulthood. I have to say I found the Vic version more enjoyable, and maybe that's nostalgia glasses, but I still really like the C64 version. But there were a handful of games whose Vic ports were more fun than their C64 counterparts. Galaxian and Omega Race leap to mind, among others. I agree with you about being done with AAA titles, but I still enjoy new first-party Nintendo releases. In fact, the Switch is my only current-gen console. Its games are a perfect blend of re-releases of past faves and the newer indie-type games I gravitate toward. It isn't chasing pseudo-realism or high polygon counts. It's just about the fun. Actually, the last non-Nintendo console I bought new was the Genesis. There are still a few games here and there I wish would get Switch releases (like NHL 94 with updated rosters), but for the most part it fulfills all my console gaming needs. Great video as always! So cool about your involvement with the Manfred Trenz game.
@BastichB64K7 күн бұрын
Yeah the C64 version of Galaga is a joke 🤣🤣 The Switch though is the perfect middle ground lots of indie goodness and like you said great AAA , im not a huge Nintendo fanboy so im not too bothered with the Marios and such but its a great system that like you said isnt trying to be real it just delivers ganeplay.
