This is not the true story. The song wasn't written by a man but a women a school teacher who was strock by her student with a slate and she became paralyzed she's Eliza E. Hewitt. Thanks anyways for this inspirating story.

Though this sounds inspiring, this is NOT the story of the Song as the song was written by Eliza E.Hewitt and Music Composed by William James Kirkpatrick as speculated below: MY FAITH HAS FOUND A RESTING PLACE, written in 1891 The Story Eliza E. Hewitt (1851-1920) was a public school teacher. One of her students struck her with a heavy slate and she suffered a severe spinal injury which forced her to retire from teaching… and made her an invalid the rest of her life in Philadelphia. However, she was able to continue to be involved with children in Sunday School and as superintendent at the Northern Home for Friendless Children. She was also used to write a number of hymns… hundreds of hymns! We don’t know the specific story behind the writing of this hymn, but we can assume it grew out of her experience. If you have placed your faith in the finished work of the Cross, then you, too, can sing along with this song. Major hymnals show the author as Lidie H. Edmunds, Hewitt’s pseudonym. William J. Kirkpatrick (1838-1921) wrote the music for this hymn.

Yeah, what the Minister narrates fits the song and sound good but we cannot accept that as the true story and picture of the author of the hymnal. The true story has been there for years...thanks

Gaza is a Philistine city, and not in any cities of Ishmael. This contradicts your philosophies starting with Adam, Noah, till whatsoever. The truth is that, you are preaching out of contexts, and not the Bible. You are full of the doctrines of THE TRADITION OF THE ELDERS - just to make men religious without righteousness; clouds without waters; men, having the form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. To stun you the more, Exodus 21:10 says: "If a man takes a second wife, he must continue to give his first wife the same amount of food and clothing and the same rights that she had before" (GNB). So, you can see that this verse is prescribed word of God for men who are highly libidos. He created all men, and knows what is in man. Stop using your own human religious ideologies to view God and Christianity. Allow men to serve their God in peace, and stop dictating foe them - John 4:23,24.

Polygamy is never a sin both in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. God gave David many wives in 1 Sam. 12:8. And in Lev. 18:9; Deut. 27:20, he commanded men not to have intercourse with their father's wives. In 1 Cor. 5:1, Paul was rebuking the Corinthian church, for not have expelled a brother who had intercourse with his father's wife - confirming the law in Lev. 18:9, and Deut. 27:20 of the OT. And in Titus 1:6, Paul said, "if any"... is a husband of one wife...he should be made an elder of the church. Which shows that, during the New Testament Church era, there were many polygamous homes in the church, eg. the churches in Crete - as Paul has already noted. In Matthew 19:3-9, Jesus was not addressing the marriage of polygamy, but divorce. He said, "if you divorce your wife, and marry another, you commits adultery" vs 9. Check very well the phrases: "if you divorce your wife, and marry another". He didn't say, "if you marry a wife, and marry another, you commits adultery", NO! You see, it's high time people should carefully read their Bible, and stop being religious. Religious without righteousness; clouds without water; keeping the traditions of the elders; having the form of godliness, but denied the power thereof! In 1 Cor. 15:40-45, Paul spoke of celestial body. Telling us that, our bodies will be changed, and we shall be like the Angels of God here after life - Mark 12:25. By then, we will have nothing to do with these weak bodies. There will be no marriage - Matt. 22:30. But for now, starting from the days of before the laws of Moses, all the bodies of all men are one, even till the end of the world. If David who wrote Psalm, and a man after God's heart could be polygamous. And God gave him many wives by himself - to serve him in holiness without hypocrisy. Then it's a surprise for people to preach against polygamy because, according to them, "we are in the New Testament"! The New Testament never stopped men from speaking in different languages, to speak one language, No. Gen. 11:7. It never stopped women giving birth in pains. It didn't stop men from eating food out of their own sweats. As things were in the Old Testament, same are they today! Why then is polygamy a sin, because, the New Testament has come? Incest, lesbianism, bestiality, were stopped in Lev. 18:8-11;22,23. But polygamy was never stopped. Which shows that, it was, is, and will never be a sin, until our bodies will be changed to celestial bodies - 1 Cor. 15:40-45.

We cannot continue to fabricate stories just to sell our biases. This is a false story, and that it was told by a Rev. Dr. makes it more appauling. You put out a false narrative forgetting that you're online. Whatever happened to doing a research before saying this unfounded stories? I which you will take this down and the Rev. Dr. apologizes.

It’s clear that Mike Todd is a gifted speaker, and even an effective teacher (the washing clean illustration could be very helpful in explaining his lesson to youths). But he could be so much more impactful in his ministry if he fearlessly and without all the fluff, the gospel of Jesus Christ, with particular attention on why it is that ALL PEOPLE need Jesus Christ in the first place. We must be woken up about our inherently sinful nature, the fact that this separates us from God and that we will be forever separated from Him in hell if we are not sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ. I pray that this man gets it together.

@13:17 Polygamy is not new testament. So Bible writers are confirming to us that God thought it wise to warn and disapprove polygamous marriages but intentionally failed to warn about slavery? Since not even Jesus is said to have condemned the practice of slavery. All biblical verses only encourage the masters to treat their slaves well as if slavery was good thing. If polygamy is that bad that it does not have God's approval, surely slavery should have been on that list. But no. It was ok to have slaves but not ok to have 2 or more wives.

Matthew 25:10. Jesus speaks of the 10 virgins. 5 were ready and 5 were not. 5 entered "GAMOUS" and 5 were shut out when the door was shut. Greek, GAMOUS, Strong's 1062 (Plural) New Testament. No Biblical contradictions here.

I agree with Mensa Otabil. Polygamous marriages really have severe consequences. My maternal grandfather married four wives out of a selfish and prideful motive: now, his children are filled with malice, jealousy, witchcraft, bitterness; and so many other evils mostly out of comparisons. It's good to believe on God's word and put in to practice. God's grace is always sufficient and marry right not for the wrong reasons.
