The groupthink moves around over time. This isn't about "best." It's about picking the right setup for what you're going to do. If you plan to shoot static targets, and you don't mind dialing, choose SFP. If your situation will get gnarly and fast, FFP is what I would take every time.

(4:54) I won't hide the screw heads. Rather, it'll b better to use longer screws and keep the heads exposed after the rubber cushion had mated w the wooden buttstock. This is bc. if u strip the screw head (as my used previous gun owner had done), it'll b very difficult to take those screw out. So what if u or ur shooting buddies make comment on the shinny exposed screw head on the recoil pad? And it won't hurt ur shoulder either. Had to slice off the rubber to expose the stripped scrw hds. I kant use the original (prev. owner's) recoil pads any more, must spend $20 - $30 for a new one. There comes a time when u'll need to access the long bolt head that attach the buttstk to the receiver and the recoil pad must come out easily!!! I did appreciated ur chaulk method. For my case, i just drill the two holes all the way thru from the back, w/o the use of Mr. Xacto knife. Make sure to use a drill press to drill the holes perpendicularly. If u don't have a drll prss, then drill perpendicular hole thru a piece of 2 x 4 using someding(something) that is square as a reference, drill a hole w ur hand drill, then use that as a guide to drill perpendicular holes thru the recoil pad n buttstk. Yes, a light removable glue at the back of the pad would help too.

How does 243 do from shorter barrels? I am trying to put together a nice hiking rifle so I need a lighteright gun and short barrels really help there. I havent decided on my chambering. I really would like a 6mm since they seem to be super versatile, able to take everything from prarie dogs to elk, but I want to be able to buy the ammo from any big box store so 243 looks perfect, but if shooting it from a 18 inch tube basically gives me a 6ARC, I may as well use 6ARC. . .

Did you notice as I did that the length of pull adjustment was short.? Meaning, that max length of pull when adjusted as far out as possible was about 14 1/2”. Which is where I’m at. So if your length of pull is longer you may want to order accordingly from Boyd’s. Thanks for the review! It swayed me to choose this stock for a Mauser 98 in 30-06. Love it so far.

I have the Nikon mounted on my .308 Remington 700 and it is a great scope. I have 4 Arkens on .22 Bergara B14R, Bergara HMR 300 PRC, 5.56/.223 AR, and RPR.308. I have had zero problems taking any of them out to range. The Nikon is a bit clearer but not enough for me say the Arken is unusable. I find it quite usable!! I can appreciate your opinion and I have not wasted a single dollar on any of the Arkens. I have both SH4 versions in magnification and 2 in the SH4J. I have dialed and used the hold overs to as of success as I am capable. The parallax numbering is like most it is a ballpark figure to get you to a quick starting point. I will keep mine and continue run them and I hope you have better luck with your future scopes.

Fixed scopes are first focal plane. I have been watching your videos for years what are you talking about there bro? I am sorry your channel hasn't taken off better. Thanks for the video. best of luck to you in the future. BTW for all the small Calber comments. I have a fixed 20X in my rpr in 300prc and I am smoking sub moa targets out a 1000yrds. these are the best BANG for the buck by a long shot...pun intended.
@SocialRegressive4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the message! I haven't produced any content in over a year, but I'm hopeful that someday my schedule will ease up. One thing you mentioned: fixed-focal-plane scopes being first-focal-plane is incorrect, and this is mentioned on SWFA's product specs. Second-focal-plane reticles are larger and easier and cheaper to make, so most manufacturers will choose those. Sounds like you have a killer rig! I'd like to build a PRC rifle sometime.

I launch 75 gr eld match out of my Bergara 22 250 with a 9 twist. It smokes my sons Valerie, 22 arc, 6 dasher et al. Almost nothing is thus flat to 1k. Thing is nobody is shooting pdogs at 1k. 750 is about the limit unless you waste 20 rnds per splat. If yoy are shooting paper, its just a scope adj.

I have a real Remington M24. I don't want a 10 X fixed scope but I do want the quality. I will be shooting moving targets up to 1000 yards. What would you recommend? I don't want to deal with crappy chromatic problems or spending 10 minutes. Calculating distance. What would you buy up to $2000 Thanks!

It is made in China, like many products because the only thing missing here is to speak Chinese; nobody can reverse what have been done, nobody, even high ends are still made overseas to save cost while charging an eye and a leg for it. Exports from China are all about profits, not quality and we all already know that.

so on the sfp lpvo when you sight the optic in you do it on x8 and when you need to make close range shots you put it to x1 and its still accurate? i thought the shot at x1 would be pretty off if its sighted in at x8 im trying to understand this because i just got one
@SocialRegressive5 күн бұрын
Great question. If you sight in at 8x, your shot will still be dead-on at any other magnification. Provided that you're still at the same distance. The big difference occurs when you're trying to use the OTHER stadia in the reticle, like if you're holding one mil over the target for a longer shot. That line will measure a different amount at 1x than at 8x.
@richardmontgomery43385 күн бұрын

My personal opinion , it’s easily one of the top ten cartridges ever developed. I’ve owned three. Model 70 featherweight , Savage model 110 , currently a Browning Bar MK 3 Stalker . From woodchucks , coyotes and deer . The cartridge does its job , if you do your part, at typical ranges . Just sayin . Great video , informative.!!!

You've made some interesting vids in the recent past. This is not one of them. You could take your comments about Arken and apply them to almost any optics firm, for one reason or another. Arkens are not trying to compete with Trijicon, Burris, Leopold, Vortex, Athlon, SWFA (possibly American firms) etc.. Rather, Arken offers hardy, 'good-enough glass' for a budget buyer. What can be wrong with that? Your petty arrogance astonishes me.
@SocialRegressive8 күн бұрын
I understand why a lot of folks defend these scopes, but I'm not exaggerating when I say that this glass is not good enough. It's the worst image of any scope in my house, and it renders a big, heavy scope and all of its cool features useless. If a shooter plans to use this as a simple scope, there are much better options for less money and less weight. If a shooter plans to use this as a long-range or precision scope, it can't do the job.

Does the manual have the turret graduations? Like how many MOA is between the range markings on the .22lr turret?

The 22lr turret assumes an average ballistic trajectory and gives its values in yards. It worked well for me when I used Federal or Winchester bulk packs.

The SWFA classic are the best value in scopes and it's not even close. It's the only scope I can think of where I guy can justify having 4 or 5 of them. I only have two but I can see at least one or two more. I personally think the 12x42 is the honey of the lineup-- not too much magnification for the glass quality, reasonable FOV, perfect MilQuad reticle.

Could definitely light -medium backpack in them with replacement insoles like the superfeet hike for more stability and foot support. Ankle lock can be achieved with those insoles + heel lock lacing technique.
