What are you using to mark your fabric? It looks like a thin bar of soap.

Yes, it is a soap for sewing. But you can use a frixion ball pen as well. it will disappear with ironing.

I made all 3 and the bottom round pieces were difficult to sew in. I’ve been sewing for 60 years so am a seasoned sewer. They turned out decent but I will modify the bottoms on the next set. Also I will use a heavier material for the inner or back the lighter with interfacing of some type. Be sure to watch the KZfaq video first.

I advise basting stitch the bottom part if you struggling with the machine at first.

Does this have to be quilted or is there another way to keep the insulation inside without moving?

I love to quilt. It looks better. But it is not necessarily to be quilted. Keep the fabric and interface with pins till sewing around.
