I don't think I'm as bad at rhythm games as I think, I just think I exclusively play ones that beat the player's ass like this one.

There's no way I could ever beat this with my tone deaf.

Being tone deaf would have no effect on your ability to play a rhythm game - however, your hand-eye coordination and sense of rhythm would.

@@flower7671 I was joking. I am simply terrible at rhythm games.

Cool concept as a game and all. It wouldn't have nearly enough traction if it wasn't a CotND "sequel"

I mean , Friday Night Funkin got famous pretty fast even before week 2 released (where Sr. Pelo's characters were introduced) No doubt it wouldnt get much attention if didnt had CotNd characters and all , but im sure with enough time it would get its own fanbase pretty fast aswell , Rhythm games are getting a pretty big dpotlight in the general public lately , so it would be the bomb , specially with this gimmick of each note being having a healthbar and having a gimmick attached to it

Speaking as a player of more "traditional" rhythm games -- DDR, beatmania, all that jazz -- I'm more concerned about sustainability rather than traction. Most of RotND's difficulty as of now comes from being hard to sightread, and while this 'easy to learn, hard to master' scheme worked well on rogue-likes, the same doesn't really apply to vertical-scrolling rhythm games. Since the placement of every enemy is pre-determined, once you have the whole chart memorized it's hard to get any freshness out of it. Sure, you could shuffle the lanes or apply some visual gimmicks as well but in the end you still get the same rhythm. While being a sequel to CotND did bring some attraction, I do believe that all the visual design and gimmicks are sure to appeal to a wide variety of audience. The devs' most important task would be to find a way to make the game replayable without getting stale too fast. My best bet would be to implement more physically challenging charts so even after you memorize the rhythm there's still some challenge to amuse you. The next best bet might be allowing custom-made levels to be made, but looking at osu!, FNF, ADOFAI, or even BMS in its' early days, this comes with a cost as the devs may have to deal with several copyright infringements.
