In many ways, these 2 weeks showed how united the United Kingdom can truly be. It showed the best of the Britain.

That last shot is of Jessica Ennis crying because of how happy she is. How often does that happen in the average persons life time? I'm not sure I've ever done it.

@1:13 the boxer lying and crying on the ring is named Alexis Vastine. A french boxer who "lost" his match in controversial manner. It was proved later, the boxing judges from this match and many others were corrupted. After this match, Alexis Vastine felt in a depression. Few years later, in need to rebuild himself he participated to a TV show, he died in an helicopter accident during the shoot. What would have happened if they didn't rob his medal in 2012... we will never know. Rip.

Watching this in 2022 there's this creeping melancholy as you realise that these moments are gone forever and the athletes you see at their absolute peaks are long retired from their sports.

Say what you want about the BBC (trust me, there's A LOT you can say about the BBC these days, hardly any of which is good), but they know how to bring it when the big occasions arrive.

I was so close to crying. I wouldn’t *imagine* what itv's closing would be like. Probably, sh*t, as most of the time. That was not intended to be a joke... I just realised the word imagine was in my speech 😂

The greatest sporting event for many a generation of Brits. Once the games started the whole country backed them and the feeling around everywhere you went was nothing short of amazing... As for this montage.. The greatest montage I've ever seen. Always brings a huge smile to the face and a sense of immense pride. Brilliant.

Come back to Liverpool. Gerrard aside, this man is a modern Liverpool legend. His bites and bans only FURTHER confirm it. He just needed 6 - 10 years and he was surely a legend.
