Damn broski, that was insane. You've really encouraged me to increase my math knowledge and I actually understood like 1% of the video! Keep it up, these videos are a gold mine of knowledge. And I'm seriously impressed you managed to implement all this stuff

I know this video is old af, so you might not see this, but thank you for sharing your college experience. I always come back and watch this when I'm feeling defeated with my classes! I feel so down when I have a hard time keeping up with the reading material. Your experience reminded me that I'm not alone, and I can still be successful even if I need to read things several times. Thank you Acerola :D

You can use dgVoodoo2 to force games to use Phong shading, and it can make older games' lighting look quite a bit nicer, but even on modern hardware, it's still a noticeable performance hit.

An ad interrupted the video like 2 seconds into your sponsor plug......I couldnt watch your ad because it was interrupted by a different ad.....I hate it here.

Fantastic video! I've recently gotten into designing materials and shaders in UE5, would love to have a go at transcribing your shader into unreal as well as experimenting with adding animated artifacts into the textures to appear as impressionist brush strokes on playback. Saw a UE marketplace blueprint simulates smear frames from traditional animation as well and I can definitely see a project that would benefit from combining a few different techniques to give a game some real personality

How does bump/displacement/normal maps fit in? You have it in your model and they were definitely using it in the BRDF shader back before BSDF was a thing

although i knew almost everything in the video as i am writing a path tracer for a uni project, this was still very fun to watch simply because of how well all this information is condensed - materials that in uni you literally go through in multiple semesters, and yet you still made it understandable and interesting in half an hour. good shit!

what the fuck did I just watch using hsv for a long time and never had any issues with it hsv is intuitive cus u can change the essential core stuff that you want to change - HUE (whether you want warmer or colder color of same saturation and value SATURATION and VALUE While other bullshit system are worthless waste of time How do you decrease saturation with lab of your current color with just one slider change? You cant.
