I'd definitely recommend this show to other people ; already convinced a few of my friends to watch it :) Btw, wanted to ask - does this set include any deleted scenes from the show?

The only problem I have with the 4K are the scenes inside the truck during the tornadoes. The scenes are so incredibly dark that you cannot see anyone’s faces clearly like you can on the blu-ray. It’s like a dark filter was added to the scenes. This is a huge mistake. The “green” scene was tamed when put in “Filmmaker” mode and looked much more realistic. Otherwise, the film looks and sounds amazing!

I don’t give half a fuck about remastering and blu-ray or UHD 4K blu-ray or whatever, as long as that cunt named James Cameron doesn’t alter the original as he has done. He “corrected” some mistakes. Jeez, just leave it as it is. It’s a goddamn classic from the 90’s! Wanna see the real deal? Go watch the 1999 single-disc version DVD on conventional TV to avoid quality loss. Thank me later.

How's the transfer?

I diddnt even know there was a 4k version. Diddnt even see it when i was looking for this a month ago. Ughh. Ended up buying the umbrella bluray version.

I saw it in theaters. I loved it. It was silly and stupid but it made me laugh. I think people put too much thought into it. I bought the DVD in the late 90s I think

man this movie was so ridiculous, at times I couldn't tell if TLJ was playing it as a comedy, but its JB performance I found unintentionally funnier. Still its fun if you don't think about it and just enjoy the ride, but I don't think Ill double dip

Take my thoughts with a grain of salt because I’m about to share all my hot takes - I watched True Lies in the theater when it came out in the 90’s. I remember it looking clean and slick and very well shot. One thing I don’t remember about it was the film grain. I think people are hyper focusing on it. The fact is, this is the best the film has looked since its theatrical release. Use of AI to clean up an image is also something people focus on way too much here. AI can be problematic (I mean we’ve all seen the Jaws 3 images at this point), but if used smartly it can actually enhance the image. The fact is, True Lies 4K in motion looks amazing. Freeze framing it isn’t something audiences did back in the 90’s to see how much grain or messy an image was. It was about the experience of the whole movie and I think the 4k retains that experience quite nicely.

Based on your screen grabs I picked 32 for 4k and 37 for the blu-ray. Which means this is one of those 4k that goes back & forth on quality like CHINATOWN 4k and THE CROW 4K.

I wish it included deleted scenes. Especially the library fight scene from the novelization; I was so disappointed, when I heard about this.

im still rocking the mgm 2011 blu ray release of the original taking of pelham one two three for now until i upgrade to the 4k. the video on THAT release was good for that time. it was a mpeg 4 avc encoded at 2.35:1 rather than the original 2.39:1 but still worked well. the audio for that release on the other hand was a dts-hd master 2.0 mono which was....lacking to say the least and there are pretty much zero extras on that one. i have been considering the kino 4k edition. but it may wait for another paycheck.

Thanks for sharing! What color are the first two seasons' discs? I see S3 is gray & S4 is blue. S1 & 2 look the same shade of black, but assuming there's some more nuance there.

Why no 4k?

The display of the captures is wrong; they seem 1:78:1 cropped to about 2:35:1. Some are on mismatched frames as well. I believe Echo Bridge Blu-rays cropped the image to 1:78:1, but some were about 2:35:1.

I like Daryl. He’s the only reason I watched it. Daryl Dixon was the better spinoff in my humble opinion. Hate to say it but I never liked the way Andrew acted. Not saying Norman is better but I like him better.

I don’t understand. 4k should be better, ok in term of definition but colors are most of the time disgusting . Look what they have done to Star Wars .. I generally prefer classic Blu-ray editions 😊.. my opinion 🫣😞

I don't know why critics even bother to waste their time comparing the 4K UHD presentation to the Blu-ray counterpart, when they know that the 4K will look better. One hundred percent of the consumers are buying 4K movies specifically for the 4K presentation anyway, not for the Blu-ray.

You shouldn't have stopped the comparison at the video quality level, but also talked about the special features and booklet. On that point, some might argue that the Eureka release might come out ahead.

That Blu looks like DVD quality

I have pre ordered Sudden Death almost 2 months ago was hoping it would come as a 4k steelbook release as well like the 4k bloodsport did also was hoping the disk itself would have the printed artwork cover on it but looks like it a plain standard boring disk. I won't be getting my film until September as i am from the uk and had to get it in the USA as its not release over here so lucky you for getting this film early Will you be doing a comparison blu ray vs 4k review on this film

I have this 4k and I am not a fan of the transfer. Even in your screen grabs there are a few that the bluray is better than the 4k. This movie came out in 1974 the same year as THE GODFATHER PT. 2 and that 4k is perfect start to finish. No way a 5! I give it a 3. I give GEMINI MAN a 5 and GODFATHERS a 4.

This movie was such a pleasant surprise from the Sony Pictures Classics boxset. I’d have heard of it but that was first time watching and I ended up having a blast with it.

Its a famous movie in Germany, yeess.

I prefer the 1080p blu ray transfer I think the tint on this version is cool.
