I was there 13 years ago just saw at the met a few months ago what a great cast....love every note of Puccini/alfano music score....it was grand opera at the met...........

Basso nobile dalla bellissima voce. Canto vario, morbido legato. Veramente splendido IMHO il pianissimo finale perfettamente sostenuto dal fiato. Io ricordo fin da bambino il suo Ferrando nell'edizione Rai con Mario del Monaco e Leila Gencer, che è tra le primissime opere che ho ascoltato.

Whoever said Tebaldi can't act was dead wrong. Her acting as Madame Butterfly is spot on. Her singing is heavenly. She owned Madame Butterfly. I think that Puccini had her in mind when he wrote it, even though they were not contemporaries. She is the ideal Cio Cio San.
