My dad from Grenada pressure cooks everything in one pot then lets it pickle over night. He also adds more fresh cucumber and onion the next morning. He made it with cow heel. I love it so much. It’s like a cold soup.

Hi Ruth, your souse looks great!!!!!!!. I am from the Trinidad and my mom use to make souse and I love it; and your looks just like my moms. The only thing i did not know is adding the baking Soda instead of salt, and I have to try it.

I’m currently a pescatarian and I gave up eating meat 15 years ago, but if there was a dish to tempt me back? This would be it! Just looking at the ingredients I can taste my childhood with me and my mum sharing a bowl of this. It’s so good! Yum! 😅

While Pigeon Peas and Coconut milk are a MUST for a real Trini Pelau, "Lanty" (Lentil) peas is not. Still, I'm sure your version is very delicious. Thanks for sharing...
