Thank you for this insightful video! I’m grateful for the deeper understanding of how our physical space can support and enhance meditation practice. It’s so important to create an environment that feels safe and nurturing, and this video really helped me see how that impacts my mindfulness journey.

In one of satipatthana meditations Bhikku leds that there is nothing sexual about body and I must say, even though I am 36 years old, for the first time I am sitting in my home naked and I am comfortable with my body. It's just body, nothing sexual about it, nothing to be ashamed of, or its not an object, or tool for pleasures. It feels like a little kid who doesn't mind if is naked, or dressed up. Its very freeing. ❤

My perspective is that This is a discussion in the beginning about the preservation of the oral traditions and running into Contradictory memorization. It is of great interest to historians and he is presenting someone else's teaching with his commeants as asides. I too I'm struggling following but curious and interested.

Nice and sweet. It seems that West people has biggest problem with desires and lust. ( East people seems to have biggest problem with anger ) . Maybe it can be more clear for audience to hear hinayana , mahayana and vajrayana approach to desires and lust ? Also results of lust like cheating and adultery which are breaking people hearts and lives can be overviewed. All best .🧡

In meditation where all is impersonal meditation could be a problem. Relating to a Universal Mind as in Buddhism without anything that is personal could be fraught. When Arjuna in the Gita saw the Impersonal God he became scared and begged to see the Personal God. Hinduism righty sees God as being both impersonal and personal. A meditator should have a Self-Realized guru as a guide. The guru like God is both impersonal and personal and the meditator can relate to the personal god manifesting through the guru which is helpful and comforting as the impersonal alone can be scary as we relate personally not impersonally. Christians who were advancing spiritually had the same problem with demons, the subconscious mind erupting. Calling on Jesus and concentrating on him was protection for them. A meditator’s concentration should be strong, meditating without concentration at the Spiritual Eye is not safe.

I'm sorry I missed the live version of this. This information desperately NEEDS to be more widely understood amongst the greater community of practitioners. I suffered meditation sickness after doing a few years of fairly intensive zen meditation in 2003, and it has severely constrained my life for the past 20+ years, making it difficult to work and sustain or develop relationships. While it has abated somewhat, it is still problematic, but I can no longer work. BOTTOM LINE: The teachers I worked with at the time (who were exceptionally experienced - I was at a well known American zen monastery known for rigorous standards of practice) should have known to say STOP doing zazen and shift into an alternative practice. This was not part of my conversations with my teachers about my issues. The precept of do no harm was breached in my case, and I'm still bitter about it. I roll my eyes whenever well-intentioned people who describe themselves as teachers or experienced practitioners say that meditation can do no harm.
