Where was the gospel being taught? This speakers intent was obvious, not to glorify Christ by way of this discourse through his teachings but to derail focus about Christ, who is the head of his church. All called teachers should only focus on the true gospel as taught by the apostles, which Paul was in the forefront. Anything else becomes mens thoughts and not God's thoughts. What really is the intent of this speaker? 🤔

I dont know how much awareness I had of concepts such as everlasting life at the tender age of around 4 or 5 years old but I remember my father very simply explained the Gospel to me, leading me to accept God's forgiveness through Christ's sacrifice for my sins. However, in my teens and twenties I struggled with assurance of salvation. For some reason I always felt the need to look inward for feelings to validate my status as a Christian. This of course lead to various attempts at greater commitment and many subsequent conflicts with God when nothing seemed to work out. Although I have been blessed with much sound teaching having been raised Plymouth Brethren, the journey of redirecting my focus to Christ's finished work has been long and winding. However, embracing the Free Grace message in later years has greatly clarified my experience, shifting my perspective towards Christ and away from self-reliance. For this I am forever grateful. Reflecting on my journey, my question is whether true salvation came years later when, according to some free gracers as a test of salvation, I finally understood from simple belief in Christ's finished work that I am eternally secure or when as a boy with literal childlike faith but probably little concept of everlasting life (though I may have had a basic idea of heaven and hell) I accepted God's offer of forgiveness for my sins? Keep up the great work. With thankful heart, Simon ❤💯🎯✝️

What is an "unbiblical view of language?" I am currently in a PHD program and began reading Sandy's (2002) book and it seems pretty conservative.. encouraging readers not to read beyond the author's purpose especially in terms of apocalyptic imagery and metaphors, especially since prophecy and sensationalism have often been wrong. pg 155 "The truth is, the landscape of history is littered with burned-out Christian predictions." ...But there is a bad side to the sensationalism of some books on prophecy. The rush to claim fulfillment of prophecy in certain current events leaves dark questions hovering over the skeletons of failed forecasts. Outsiders may wonder whether Christians can be trusted to speak the truth." So far so good to me.. I wonder why Charles Clough is so concerned... I am guessing a conservative approach to eschatology undermines some people's pocketbooks.. But I will listen to this hour lecture and see what he says. @5:08 ... "the impact this has on dispensationalism." Aha. So down the rabbit hole we go... @51:01- yes, "as dispensationalists..." 16:22-28 "But what these people are doing is so emphasizing pragmatics that they are diminishing the role of semantics." Seems contradictory.. if semantics informs pragmatics, how can pragmatics "diminish" semantics? I think he is worried about the diminishing of the 5th level, "speculation," meaning beyond authorial intent or clear semantics. Prophets who enjoy speaking beyond what the text is clearly saying fear "staying silent when the text is silent." The problem is that prophets who speculate are often wrong. @24:22-25:14 There is an odd debate about the how math, a completely mental product, helps to correspond to reality while grammar of language doesn't. Math is built with symbols in the same way words and phrases are built with symbols.. both systems of math and language inform reality. Yawn. @1:01:00 an audience member stands and shares how he taught at Liberty University, a course on Revelation, and how he kicked this book "Plowshares" out. The man is no other than Dr. Thomas Ice, pretrib-rapture big kahuna. So in conclusion, a conservative reading of scripture doesn't help the dispensational hermeneutic. In the words of Dr. Thomas Ice: "He tells them in the book that he's just dealing with methodology, and to suspend your theological conclusions, and we'll get to those later. But if you follow his methodology, there's no way you could be a dispensationalist, or even a premillennialists. It's pushing idealism" (1:01:43-1:02:03). So the end justifies the means for the dispensationalist.

Having read the first 4 chapters of Sandy's book (Plowshares..) I conclude that while he is attempting to be conservative in prophetic interpretations, not being dogmatic with metaphorical language and poetry, he advocates "not getting too close to God's word" but to stand back and not "muzzle" God with possible interpretations. One is quoting how "forever" may have a more figurative meaning, not literal. A few other weaknesses in Sandy's writing is that he does not address original languages of the text. Worse, he quotes from an English translation I cannot identify, offering renderings of texts that will not align with major English translations. The phrase "forever" is used in his quote of Isaiah 17:1, which is not used in the Hebrew nor other major English translations. On page 127, he writes, "Apocalyptic paints impressionistic pictures. Stand back and look at the picture. What is the overall effect? What did the artist seek to convey? But be careful not to stand too close." Pg 128: "Reading apocalyptic, then, is best done from a distance. ...the message can easily be missed if the strokes of the painter’s brush are scrutinized individually. Pg 207- Sadly, people have also inadvertently domesticated prophecy. If every utterance can be analyzed and objectified and a futuristic significance extrapolated therefrom, we have tamed prophecy and forced it to be what we want it to be. True, modem Christians are held spellbound, but in the process we have muzzled the divine medium." p 206 "While Christians agree that Jesus will come again, attempts to understand the circumstances surrounding that event have led to positions known as amillennialism, premillennialism, postmillennialism, pretribulationalism, midtribulationalism, posttribulationalism and so on. Each is a PRECONSTRUCTION ; that is, rather like attempting to reconstruct what happened in history based on sketchy details, eschatology is an attempt to PRECONSTRUCT what will happen in the future based on supposed details that are also sketchy. " I think this is a good warning against interpreters forcing the scriptures to align with their eschatological system, which Thomas Ice may not like. As you can see, he is attempting to be conservative when it comes to prophecy since sometimes unclear or metaphorical language is used.. Sandy trust in a zoomed out view. But in my opinion, it undermines the inspiration of scripture if we cannot trust the words of God up close. So there is a balance- not attempting to speak beyond the text. However, impressionistic views or prophecy can open up unintended meaning or open up doors for false prophets to twist scripture to their liking. So context and reading the Bible as a whole is needed. I would hold the view that we can view scripture up close and trust it, yet we need restraint to not speak beyond what is written.

It is true that people couldn't be saved under the Law alone, but Jesus didn't die on the cross to free us to sin. It is ridiculous to believe that Jesus didn't have a better plan than to make sin legal so that we can be saved. Deceived Christians are believing that Jesus had no other way to save us than to allow sin as a way to bring Salvation. In truth, when he died on the cross, he was able to send the Holy Spirit, who is able to transform us to true righteousness so that we can obey God’s laws and be saved. We must be Born Again and converted to righteousness. Decieved Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross to allow human beings to continue to sin, and grace would remove the penalties for breaking his laws. This would only allow people to destroy themselves with sin, because over time, sin hardens the heart. Sin destroys the human conscience. That would not be grace at all. Deceived Christians believe this is God's only solution for Salvation. They are wrong. God does not leave us in a sinful state, because it would destroy us both mentally and spiritually. Rather, God's grace is that he blesses us with cleanliness and righteousness so that we can live a happy life. False ministers interpret the bible with the ignorance of mortal men, and they teach this as truth. Covering up sin is like sweeping more and more dirt under the carpet and leaving it there. This is man's way, not God's way. They dont understand that God's ways are higher than the ways of human beings.

Based on John 19:37 and Acts chapter 2, was Zechariah 12:10 fulfilled at Calvary and on the Day of Pentecost? Based on what Paul said about Christ returning "in flaming fire" taking vengeance on those who do not obey the Gospel in 2 Thess. 1:7-10, will there be a second chance of salvation outside of the Church on the day of His Second Coming. New Covenant Whole Gospel: What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below. Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. Why some have problems with Reasoned eclecticism. I John 5:7 is found in a majority of the Latin, but not the Greek so out it goes. Good will towards men Doxology in Matthew Without cause God manifest in the flesh Are a majority in the Greek but not in the Latin, so out they go The PA and Mark 16:9-20 are a majority in both the Greek and Latin so out they go. Even the “not yet” found in the two of the earliest(P66.P75) in John 7:8 some throw out. If as an orthodox Christian you don't see a problem, what would you see as a problem?
