Cool video! Water looks low. What time of year was this? I bet this river gets high in the spring based on how smooth those boulders are

Yarlung not Yigong. Yarlung is the name of the valley through which the Tsangpo flows and it is also the region where Tibetan civilization began along the Yarlung.
@newsenjopir73863 жыл бұрын
You might not got the full information. Yigong is just a tributary of main stream and Yarlung is believed to be the main stream coz it flow with larger size and cover more distance than all other tributary. Before Parlung join Yarlung there are many more streams but to form Yarlung Tsangpo there are two main stream and yigong is one of them.

Come on there is no balance of Tibetan and Chinese culture in Lhasa. It is rather Chinese imposition n Tibet.

Chris. I came across a copy in a bookshop a couple of years ago and couldn't put it down. It was an amazing story and all before satnavs and mobiles. I was 14 at the time and had just taken up canoeing. Think I still have the cuttings in a scrapbook somewhere.

S.W. We flew in with boats from USA, UK and Australia. I now keep a storeroom in Lhasa with about 15 kayaks and some rafts for future expeditions.

I think I watched the original film of this on a VHS. It was an Aussie production and they went to Lhasa and saw a sky burial. I've been trying to find that film for years and years. Does anyone know where I can find it?

HI Saugot - there are a number of sources of the Brahmaputra River. The main source is out near Mt Kailash in Western Tibet. The Yigong and Parlung Tsangpo are two very large tributaries that flow south into the main Tsangpo Gorge not far from the Indian border. Indeed an amazing region.

If you want to read about Mike Jones' and the boys trip on the South Side of Everest - I recommend you get hold of a copy of "Canoeing Down Everest" by Mike Jones Great read by one of kayakings true legends.
@ChrisJones-fl4ep11 жыл бұрын
voyager - yes - Mike Jones did paddle around on a lake on the Southern side of Everest in 1976 and then paddled some spectacular sections of the Dudh Kosi. (in Nepal) But if you read the description and watch the video - this trip was on the North Side of Everest in Tibet on an entirely different drainage that feeds into the Arun River.

I believe Mike Jones did it before 2004. In 1976 putting in at 17500 feet on a lake on the Khumbu Glacier at the foot of the Everest Icefall. Sadly Mike is no longer with us.
