Gave up CO otc 20 years ago, thought it sucked then…not driving 1000 miles to hunt rag horns, can’t imagine what its been like lately. Sadly, limiting otc archery will not help the quality. Only archery purist won’t pick up a otc rifle tag now. More rifle tags will get sold resulting in even worse quality.

In our county, in Nevada they passed a leash law for all dogs that absolutely drives me up the wall as a large cattle and also wildlife area open to hunting who is going to have a leash on your dog to hunt ducks, quail & chukar all this because of Xtra large influx of California transplants they definitely need town leash laws let's not get me started on what they have allowed the homeless population that have almost completely ruined the few rivers we have but on we go

If you make sure the rifle is level you can also hang something heavy on a thing rope. That rope wil always be perfectly level (when you hang it indoors out of the wind) just twist the scope so matches the rope

Two other ideas I've done: 1) shank, slow roast 1 or 2 with about 3 LG sliced onions, can of Adobo chili's, bottle green chili, cumin, S&P til it falls off the bone. Great for tacos, burritos, etc. 2) top blade, remove the tension, work the steak with a jacquard, marinate (I use a citrus & soy or a ponzu). Cook/grill like you would a London broil. Slice thin, cross grain.

I will say that I had no clue that surface shitting was bad until I was 28 years old. I hunt pretty much everything now but in my upbringing my dad and I would mostly quail hunt and I don’t ever really remember needing to go while we were out. We also never really camped much so I guess this lesson was just never taught me. It wasn’t until I was listening to a MeatEater podcast a couple years ago where they talked about it and I was like oh man I had no idea 😅

That's a great setup. I know because I had one like it in 2008 to 2011 for a GMC Sonoma small truck. Had the topper already on it and started thinking "Why can't a guy make a camping setup out of this?" The stackable totes work great. Unfortunately, the truck was a piece of crap. Had nothing but problems with it and got rid of it.

Positive feedback? From who? Colorado residents? Colorado didn’t have to eliminate all over-the-countet non-resident archery elk hunters, they could have just limited it by making it a "first-cone-first serve/limited number of non-resident tags/unit" basis to actually limit it. That should include residents as well if the true problem is overcrowding in some areas. Maybe have it 85% residents, 15% non-residents & give the residents their "reasonable" advantage. The real issue may be there have been incidents where a small number of non-residents abused this privilege or residents who blamed their lack of success on non-residents whether it was actually fact. Makes me want to say, "Fine, then No Colorado Residents are allowed to archery elk hunt in my state then." Go ahead and disagree... but this was a gross overaction imo. If it wasnt, then why not do so for rifle hunts as well? There is the money thing though too. That's a lot of lost revenue, but perhaps Colorado doesn’t really need it, or they feel these hunters will switch rifle hunts until rifle hunters complain also. While its true I haven't hunted Archery Elk in Colorado for years, I never saw overcrowding as an issue given the vast amount of country & number of elk. Still sounds like overreaction to me & if need be will just go elsewhere.

Our public education system has been failing us for a long time. The fundamentals of life are no longer taught in public schools. I know it's the parents responsibility to teach their children ethics but if the parents don't have ethics what chance do we have of ever breaking the cycle.

Crowding is an issue. But there are many more Colorado "residents" now than there used to be. The population is growing. People that have been here for just a few years now want to shut others out. Why not limit tags to us natives? Or set aside tags for people that have been here 10 years or more? That would really cut down on the over crowding.
