Now, what about his jig stick - Harnell 542, 540, 724? Truline D8? Or something more modern? Old school reel may be the Penn 99 with the Jigmaster sideplate, but we love the details.

I've caught both in Montana. You can go ling fishing for about 2 weeks out of the year. At night. Was the only time I ever seen one. And as far as Walleye goes, I caught one once by accident at the Yellowtail damn. I didn't know what it was. I told my ex husband that either he would take it off my hook or it was going back in, pole and all. It had more teeth than I did. Razor sharp. Not me. 😂😂😂

It helps a lot when there's no current and the fish get more picky. If you're fishing the up current side of any structure when the current is right, you can catch fish on anything. Just look at some of the lures from the 50's and 60's that caught a ton of yellows, WSB, etc... pretty funky looking. Ever see a hoochie toad?

Excellent video! When targeting yellowtail with live bait is there a preferred type of hook used? I've seen people fish with different types of hooks and I like to know their differences. Can you share some advice?
@socalsalty3 жыл бұрын
Yellows don't have teeth, so you want to use a bait style hook (J hook, not circle), that's appropriate to the size of the bait being used. In general, I typically use from say 1 to 2/0. Good luck out there

In Malibu. They shutoff a bunch of the access points, but it’s open. If you’re willing to walk and know what you’re looking for, they’re around. Find bait and structure, and you’ll find fish
