Stick with 2nd,3rd until you get to where you can drop it back and do coasters. Trying to start off with slow first gear stuff is allot because you’re trying to learn not only throttle and brake control but also it’s allot harder to balance at slow speed. Practice bringing it up and setting it down with the brake. Pick it up, jab the brake over and over building confidence in the rear brake and then work that into more speed and being more gentle with the brake to where you can just cruise a wheelie all day and then work towards slowing them down🤙
@urbexcross3 ай бұрын
good thinking! I guess I was just thinking slow wheelies = less speed and while yes, harder to learn up front = safer down the road at higher speeds.

My buddy and I were talking about getting a Marketplace beater to learn to wheelie so we can negate all the worry of crashing and hesitation in just sending it. Nobody wants to dump their nice bike bending bars, breaking signals, levers etc. Once we got good we'd just sell it back to some poor dolt.😂 Once you get it up there with the initial throttle, you have to follow with steady throttle delivery, not cut it completely then "blip, blip, blip". It's intuitive to chop throttle once it's flying up but counterproductive to what we're trying to do. The other thing nobody mentions is that we instinctly lean forward once it's popping up there, till we can stop that we'll always be killing that momentum.
@urbexcross3 ай бұрын
dude all of that is such good feedback! I have been trying to avoid leaning forward. haha so scary to lean back haha. Also the blip blip is tough too! I'm trying to do better steady throttle. I'll work on that for day 5!

Slow wheelies are more advanced, start off learning to ride a wheelie in 2nd first. You gotta find that balance point and get used to feeling what that zone is like. Look at your front forks, when they're parallel with the ground you're there. For slow wheelies you basically gotta pop all the way back to the balance point instantly and then keep it BARELY from looping. Takes a lot of comfort and experience.

It looks like you are pulling back more on the bars and less of pushing into the forks to get the rebound assistance you could try a light front brake tap to get the compression as well to get a faster lift of the front wheel. Your body is still fighting your progress by leaning foprward as soon as you start to get it up. Keep your arms straight and lean back. It such a hard reflex to break but once you do you will have the wheelies down.
@urbexcross3 ай бұрын

Just a suggestion, you don’t need to jerk back on the bars it’s just wasted energy. Just let the power of the bike bring up the front wheel and concentrate on clutch feed and breaking technique.
@davidronneberg26433 ай бұрын
Keep at it gents and you’ll be wheeling like a pro in no time!
@urbexcross3 ай бұрын
thanks David! I think I'm accidentally pulling back so hard because I go so far forward to compress the front suspension. Lemme know in the next few days if it seems like I'm still doing that. haha. it does look ridiculous. still learning. gonna concentrate on clutch and braking. less body moving.

@urbexcross3 ай бұрын
that's awesome man! congrats on even trying! it's scary for sure! clutch pops helps a lot. I started using them, very small, just a little throttle with the clutch to barely lift my Front wheel over like a small puddle or something like that. I have basically been doing that for a few months now. just kind of getting used to that delivery with the clutch and it has prepared me to do collect pops for wheelies now even higher. Hope this helps man! @@JustCharles9

Im not great at wheelies, and should be doing this with you tbh, but I do know that the balance point is near that “oh shit” moment. You’re not really bringing the wheel up high enough yet for the slow wheelie. I can’t tell if you’re doing it in the video, but practice hovering the rear brake and for a day or so, EVERY time you bring the wheel up, hit that rear brake and send it back down. This will teach your brain to use the rear brake to bring the wheel down so you’re more comfortable in that “oh shit” point and not loop out. I’m here for this series tho! 🎉
@urbexcross3 ай бұрын
I have been doing that, yes! I did that when I first started doing clutch drops I think just to be safe. so part of me now is actually letting myself go further back now, and not just smashing the brake Everytime. i became used to using it when I got scared. now I gotta not use it even further back and apply it softly to stay up, to eventually get to balance point one day haha.
