i love this! my friends think i’m crazy for having a spreadsheet for clothing but it is nice to intentionally look at what you own.

Love this, I have a very similar spreadsheet, I have a "Date retired" column too so I can see if/when I got rid of something and so how long I kept it!

that’s so smart!! I have a separate sheet where I move that info and record more like what I did with it (sold, donated, upcycled, etc) and when

The problem I’ve had with low quality knits is that every single time you mend them, a new hole pops up within a couple wears

I was gonna say I’m gonna keep buying my Birkenstocks cause I have had zero sandals last me 5+ years, I wore my current burka to volleyball tournaments during snowy upstate ny winter (cause I was lazy and didn’t want to unlace any kind of boots or ruin my uggs) I wore them almost exclusively through the past 5 summers I’ve had them and they are still going. I will be repurchasing, and no I won’t be buying sandals that last one summer and it’s a the best I can hope for.

Thank you so much for this!! Often (at least currently), a number of sustainable fashion brands have insane prices that aren’t affordable to the average person. Buying from fast fashion isn’t inherently bad, it’s when you buy hundreds of clothes from them that will only get worn once before being thrown away

I’ve always done mending on things I own. I not the worlds best sewist but I can sew on a button, mend a hole or a fallen hem. I can even shorten trousers and skirts I don’t often coz it’s a pain but I can do it. You don’t have to sew very well to keep clothes going! I’m so glad people are relearning these things!

Our local grocery saves boxes for customers. I also go to Costco and grab fruit boxes, no lid but they are stackable and very sturdy.

Reusing trash "old carboard boxes" is sustainable. More plastic production to fill the need for this service isn't.
@heavymetalbassist5Ай бұрын
I have just shoved it all loose in our vehicles, no boxes
@jenniferprice9971Ай бұрын
I work at a fast food place and just took free boxes from there. I’m probably going to keep some of the boxes because cardboard is really nice to do crafts on. Even then a lot of them are going to be good to be reused again even after I move so I might ask my sister who is about to move if she wants some. I am keeping the reusable plastic totes from previous moves but the smaller cardboard boxes makes moving books so much easier than the large plastic totes and so much cheaper since they free versus how ever much the plastic totes would have cost me. Another bonus is that I can then recycle them instead of just putting the boxes in the trash like my work does.

I usually turn my old clothes into quilts and pillows once they start getting holes!!!! And saving money from new craft supplies as a bonus.
