My wife's 13-year old female Shih-Tzu just had this surgery yesterday; her's had to be more complicated because the x-ray showed stones packed tightly from bladder floor to roof. The bottom half was filled with "gravel" of all sizes from pepper-sized to pea-sized while the upper half was several huge stones like the two biggies removed here. If the Vet had to remove each one with forceps it would have take hours.

I'm watching this because I decided I want to open my own low-cost spay/neuter clinic and will now have to figure out how to get into vet school. Watching videos like this makes me believe I can do it. All I can think about is how, if I do become a vet that specializes in sterilization, how many cats I can help save. And how many litters I can help prevent. Also, the patient was a very pretty boy. Even with that silly pom-pom tail.

It has nothing to do with Meena for Kiki, not even a cat but what can my mom do for her sick dog that cannot lick and has really bad teeth issues

And then I have a cat that is my version of Kiki that we call Meena and Meena had no pee blockages, but we just wanted to get her spayed because when she was in heat, she would spray pretty much every single time and you know when the cats in heat and they lifted butt up in the air and make their back paws, go up and down butt dancing with doing they’re dancing with their butt and Meena what spray so he’s gonna have to do when Meena was butt dancing on my mom‘s bed I would have to pick her up, plop on my bed and pick up a cat and let it butt dance on the floor

Mommy had a cat that she called Kiki and Kiki had to have an emergency spay out of Pee blockages, and uterus and ovaries and bladder. We’re having a fight in there.

Very informative video, thank you! Quick question about the stable heart rate (4:07) - is that heart rate variability normal in canines? My dog was just neutered and I auscultated his heart and lungs post op and noticed that same sort of variability (or almost an arrhythmia) where it’s maybe 3-5 slow beats and then runs another 2-4 fast beats, then back to the slow beats again. When he was younger, it would even be longer runs of fast beats in between the slow beats.
