Hello mam, I'm a civil engineer and have chosen BIM for my project of a Residential apartment, to do that research about What is BIM? Your explanations & thoughts are very much useful and appreciated...and also a new subscriber for your work😇 THANK YOU

Hi @madheshamaddy7094 thanks for comment and happy to hear you liked the channel. On top of all the theoretical references available, I would recommend you to install a BIM tool and see its capabilities by navigating through the software interface. Some companies give free student license (for example Autodesk). You can try Revit, Autodesk Civil 3D, ARCHICAD or Trimble Tekla Structures. There are various tutorials on KZfaq. If you have access to LinkedIn Learning, try the tutorials there. All the best!

Hi. Thank you for the detailed instruction with graphical representations of this video. However, I have a concern which is the 5D: Cost is this not going to be different by region?
@builtevolvechannel8870
@builtevolvechannel8870 Жыл бұрын
Hi Danial, thanks for your comment. Cost will certainly be different by region (similar to time, health and safety, building performance, etc.). In BIM process, we manage the building data related to each dimension. The inputs will be different project by project or based on location. But there are still similarities between the type of data that we need to be able to determine the cost of project. BIM is not trying to make a similar template for all projects, instead, we try to understand how different type of data can be managed and maintained throughout building's lifecycle.

سلام خانم دکتر بازار کار بیم در ایران چطور میبینید ؟
@builtevolvechannel8870
@builtevolvechannel8870 Жыл бұрын
As far as I am aware of, the application of BIM (process and standards) in construction projects in Iran is limited at the moment. It will be the next big thing in the next 5 years or so (I would think so!). However, there are many job opportunities for people with BIM software skills, particularly Revit Architecture, Structure and MEP.

I didn't understand why the Logistics is not on the 4D group. Doesn't it have anything to do with the deliveries?
@builtevolvechannel8870
@builtevolvechannel8870 Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the interesting question. You are 100% right. Even if you consider prefabrication, it is not only 4D. It can appear on almost all dimensions depending on how you look at it. Similarly, logistics has a very wide meaning. Time and cost are both incorporated into logistics. It is not only time but also the combination of time, cost and more dimensions.

Hi, Thanks for your comment. First you should know how BIM is evolving your specialisation within the Built Environment sector. Which BIM software applications are the most important ones in your specialisation? You can find very good tutorials on LinkedIn, KZfaq and Autodesk website. If you want to study BIM, there are various courses that offer BIM modules. What is your profession?

Hello, dr. Elham. Thanks for the informative video! Hope that you will upload more videos in the near future. I have a question regarding BIM Standard ISO19650. Is the BIM Standard ISO19650 only used and is a binding document in the UK, or is it also used in the US and the rest of Europe? If it's only used in the UK, what are its equivalent standards in the EU and the US?
@builtevolvechannel8870
@builtevolvechannel8870 Жыл бұрын
Hi Mohamed, Such a brilliant question. ISO 19650 is the International BIM Standard. It has been developed based on the existing UK BIM Standard but was modified to form the international version. I am not aware of any other widely used standards in Europe (I will need to search to give you a definite answer). US National BIM Standard www.nationalbimstandard.org/ Take a look at this article: clok.uclan.ac.uk/39137/1/39137%20A%20Global%20Analysis%20of%20BIM%20Standards%20Across%20the%20Globe%20%20A%20Critical%20Review%20Accepted%20Version_.pdf I am planning to add more videos over Summer.

Thanks a lot! The linked article provides excellent insights regarding different BIM standards in different countries. Waiting for you new videos! I hope that you can emphasize on the relationship between BIM and the sustainability in the built environment in your upcoming videos; that is, how BIM can help reduce the carbon footprint, reduce waste, and induce a greener built environment.

Happy to hear you found the videos useful. There are many online resources: to get a career in BIM you need to know a BIM software (related to your specialisation)+ BIM standards+ engage in BIM projects. Try to see which software is the most relevant to you (analyse the existing job market and see what software applications are needed, for example Revit MEP or Structure). Then search for the available tutorials online (KZfaq for example).

I did tried the FARO scanner, too many noisy point cloud data scanned which may due to the open space environment. And, it was really exciting to use such expensive equipment. Autodesk probably would be a monopoly company of such technology for coming centuries.

Please help me understand how this is any different from the traditional modeling. How is this different from a SCADA? I'm genuinely interested to know? It just sounds like people are calling a very old concept something new becuase it uses ML and IoT and provides sights? Linear regression predicts trends and RS485 coms send n receive data realtime. Does a fancy web dashboard, wireless coms and datadriven ML warrant believing it is anything new?... same same but not different. Just marketing word salad.

Very interesting comment. I appreciate you sharing your insight. The concept has been there, the application of the concept is now going to the next level (we have now moved from possibilities to business models). Your comment is valid but here I am discussing the practical application (not the theoretical knowledge).
